I was wondering if anyone can tell me if GM ever made clear headlight covers for the 82-84 Z-28's? I've seen a couple 82 pace car editions that had clear covers on like nothing I'ver seen before. They had a really different mounting system for them, there were several holes drilled in the lower area of the headlight area and had mounting brackets that were fixed to the headlight buckets. The cover would then go into the holes at the bottom and then snap into the brackets at the top. You could not remove them without opening the hood.
They deffinately were not ones you find in the parts stores. If anyone has any info on these, it would be great to hear. I would like very much to find a set of these. Thanks.

Yes, GM did indeed. They were for the Z28Es exported overseas. I bought an NOS pair from PPI for an '82 that we used to have. You are correct about the mounting system that they used too.
GM made the covers you are referring to for the Pace Cars and for export cars. They screwed into the urethane with small thin screws. I don't remember which export country, but one country requires that the headlights be covered so they won't break when a stone kicks up. The covers are pretty much non existant today.
