89 gta
5.7tpi
rear hatch motor fried
headlight motor burning out
rotors and calipers 4-5 years old
brand new power attena
grant steering wheel (removable)
alarm
rear quater panel is slightly damaged
hardtop
209k km
i just took a quick look at it, looks pretty decent, its white. he says it runs like its brand new.
the guy wants a grand canadian for it personally i think its an awsome deal, hes a freind of my moms at work . hes trying to get rid of it because he has no room to put it ,and hes really into to camping and just got a bronco for his birthday from his brother
basically its got a bit of cosmeticn damage and the other minor things i'm already used to with my car.
for a grand i don't think i can afford not to grab it, i'm thinking about grabbing it and driving it around while i do the 3.4 swap on my camaro

You could part it out and make over a grand. Jump on it.
thats kinda what i was figuring, i mean the digital dash alone is worth it

When I bought my 89 GTA for $1800 Canadian, I originally went to look at it for parts... I figured if I could get ground effects for my 88 Firebird, I'd turn it into a Trans Am clone. At the time I figured the car was almost worth it for the rims and tires alone (it has new tires on it!). But then when I got to the guys house and saw the GTA, I realized the car was in good shape and ran great, so I'm sinkin a few more dollars into it and I'm going to drive it instead. If the car runs good and the body is in decent shape, I'd say snap it up and fix 'er up. If its in decent enough shape, don't part it out... it would be a shame to remove 1 more GTA from circulation. These are great cars that deserve to be restored and driven.
Whats the moto of that one car show on TV... don't crush em, restore em!

well i'm a die hard camaro fan, still like the boxy look of the gta. from what he says its a strong runner so i was figuring i'd drive it around whil ei work on my camaro then afterwords either sell it to fund the paint on my camaro or try and trade it for an iroc

That's a good idea too... personally I've always liked the Pontiac more than the Camaros... but hey, that must be why GM made both of them, right?!

exactly, don't get me wrong the gtas are nice cars. but i like the agressive look of the camaro rather then the quick agile look of the gta

LOL Its funny, cause this sounds exactly like a conversation I've had with one of my buddies numerous times... I always say I like the "sleek sporty" look of the GTAs... and he says he likes the "agressive, muscle" look of the Camaros. Hey, as long as its a 3rd gen, thats cool.
But if you got the $$$, and the cars in decent shape... I'd get it... drive it and have some fun... then turn the car and try to make a couple extra bucks if you can even

lol the problem is i don't have the money right now, but he really needs ot get rid of the car. so i'm gonna try and talk him into payments. cus i know i can sell the car for more then a grand if it came to it

That's true... GTAs, IROCs... they're easy cars to sell... the GTA I bought went into the Autotrader Friday morning... a guy called that afternoon and said he would come and pay cash and take it home Saturday night.... I went to see it Friday night and went back Saturday afternoon and bought it... luckily the owner gave me first crack at the car even tho the other guy called first! I think he gave me first chance at the car cause the other guy was a lawyer... probably just wanted to buy the car to make a couple bucks. But by the time I picked the car up Monday, he had another 2 guys lined up in case I couldn't come up with the cash!
You could definitely turn around and get your money back and then some. Thats the great part about these cars being semi-collector... or at least desireable

yeah, with the gtas there arne't a whole lot of them out there right now, but in the same condition they go for about 3500 around here , so i figured if i don't get greedy and put it up for 3000 and get 2500 i'd be happy

This is not intended as a flame, but I've got to ask. If the GTA has a 5.7 L engine, why wouldn't you simply transplant that into your Camaro instead of the 3.4 you mentioned. I have a feeling after driving the 5.7 you aren't going to want to go back to a 6 cylinder, no matter how much better you like the look of the Camaro. My gut instinct tells me your Camaro will be for sale shortly after you get the GTA. Hell if I were you I'd sell both and buy a V8 Camaro.
well i can see your point of view on the topic, i want the 3.4 because i want a bit more power then the 2.8 has (the 2.8 isn't in the best shape) , but i work about 40 km away from my house and my gf lives about 60 km from my place, so i need some good gas milage. only reason i'm thinking of the gta is resale value to help fund my camaro.
when i went shopping for my camaro i went shopping for a v6 camaro, now thats not saying i don't want a fast car. but i want a good daily driver right now.
i'm hoping to eventually get an iroc and put a 383 with a t-56, this is down the road though

Fuel economy is a function of RPM as much as it is cylinder count. Here's a good example for you. My 87 LT originally had a 2.8 V6, 700R4 tranny, and a 3.42 rear. It got worse gas mileage than my 90 RS that had a TBI 305 V8, T5 5-speed, and a 3.08 rear. Currently the 87 has a TPI 305, still with a 700R4 and the same rear. The RS has a TPI 350, same tranny, and at last fuel calculation still had the same rear (although I've recently changed it). The RS still gets better fuel mileage. With the right combo you can achieve as good or better mileage with a V8, especially if most of the driving is highway miles.

Its got leather interior too? Nice... my GTA has the gray cloth. I've always wanted the leather interior cause I love the looks of leather... but on the down side, its hard to find one where the leather isn't torn to crap. I'd love to see pics of it when you get it.
Edit: Congrats on your new toy BTW!

well i gave this check one hell of a look over, pulled off some of the gfx and got under it with a flashlight, its got rust all over it( its all surface) so i think i might drive it around for a bit and then part it to help keep my friends 89 gta as original as possible
