1984 convertible ----

I have a 1884 Camaro ragtop -- was a custom-built in'84, I think by ASC in Michigan, but dont know for sure. Anybody out there have any experience with these cars ? I e-mailed ASC, but never got any reply. Any info on chassis stiffening used, will it interfere with header installation? what kind of motor and mechanism used for the top....just any general info available.....getting ready to start fixing her up this winter, would like to hear from other rag-top owners.......

Hi!
There were lots of convertible builders back then!
Stramen
Autoform
Greenwood
are just a few!
Take a picture, and post it here! We should be able to help you out then!

RArnold,

You really ought to post these questions on the Convertible Board. There are a bunch of guys lurking there who can probably answer your questions...

Yup, that's defintiley an AutoForm. I'm quite a big fan of those conversions, then again I'm rather biased, since I own one of 'em.

Looks pretty sweet so far, let me know if you find a place that makes tops decently...My replacement one sucked.

This is DTL504 with the red 84 convertible " Boogie Man" and need a little assistance with the little back trunk. I was wondering if would be kind enough to send me a picture of how the trunk shock is mounted to the larger fiberglass trunk. I took this apart with taking picture 6 months ago before getting the car painted and has had a brain fart and forgot exactly hows it is mounted.
Thanks in Advance
David

Thanks a lot, you are a lifesaver.
The project is coming along pretty good, I just ordered some Boyd Coddington 18" wheels and the new A1 Carpet will be here tomorrow. I have a lot of parts to install over the summer, plus all my interior is in the upholstery shop which I hope to have by the end of this month.
The parts that was on the table was sent out for chroming and this guys does a teriffic job of applying chrome. I have been very impress with his work and has found a lot of little things on the car to send him after he complete the work on the bench.
Anyone who needs some chroming I would highly recommend this guy he is awesome....

Here we go: They're kind of big, but I hope they show what you need. Let me know if you need a different view.

I'm trying to mount my parts after getting them chrome and would like a wide view of rear area, so that I can see everything in place with the trunk raise. (ie: mini truck shock. All angle will be appreciated. Hopefully somebody will post while im at Home Depot will be back in the next 45min. Trying to get this car ready for the "Scoop the Loop" in Waukegan, IL

Here is the view that I really need, but a better pic and concertrated on the mini trunk.
Thanks.

Hehe - Actually the 'bird is kind of grounded for now - I got a 99' firebird, and I'm just working on putzing with the 'bird...

But it's actually been pretty warm here for a while now...Can get pretty hot, not as hot as out there, but hot....
