Looks aftermarket...

I do not think they ever used that style on a Firebird.

ahem...

Considering that the Fiero Emblem did not contain a bird, but more of a styalized Pegasus Horse with wings. I do not think it is from a Fiero.

Don't think that it would even fit on a Second Gen hood. The upper wing tips look too close together, there is not enough clearance for the Shaker. Doubt that it would work on the asemetrical turbo hood either.

Kind of looks like something that came out of Samuri Jack or some other anime.

I'll all but guarentee it's aftermarket, it's facing the wrong way...

Only the 80-81 Turbo birds got the right facing hood chickens.

I could have probably have guessed what year it was from if they didn't took a pic of teh side with the backing on it, probably mid 70's.

Yep!
Aftermarket!
I remember seeing these advertized in the car mags during the thirdgen years.
People always wanted a hood bird for their car, and Pontiac didn't deliver. This aftermarket company did.
I don't remember the name of the company, but go thru your old car mags!
Even Pep Boys sold them!

Hope this helps,

George
