i found a car for sale, claiming to be an 84 camaro zf custom. i tried searching for zf, it wouldn't search (string too short). i also tried to check the rpo decoder, link is working. when i googled camaro zf, all i found was the 6 speed transmission found in some corvettes. i know it's not the tranny, cuz this particular one has an auto. was there actually some kind of zf option for the camaro, or is this just another case of someone adding letters to their car to be cool?

as i said in my first post, you can't do a search for that. the search engine does not allow searches for less than 3 characters. if you try to search for 2 letters, it will say "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." so i can't search for just zf. if i search for camaro zf, it will return every post with the word camaro or zf in it... not good.

ok, i just pulled my head out of my rear and realized i could search for an exact phrase, i.e. "camaro zf". i've come to the conclusion that these cars were sent to some sunroof company (don't recall which), who installed a sunroof, slapped on some striping, and gave the car a wood dash.

zf
ZF was a dealer ordered option mainly from pennsylvania and conneticut dealers....the conversion was preformed by ASC....and included woodgrain, emblems, sunroof (not always) and maybe more....this is what i have come up with since buying my ZF coupe 10 years ago....most i have seen have been 6 cylinder cars,,,sooo far mine is the only v8 car i have personally seen,,not saying its the only one ,,just that its all i have seen/.. my car also was ordered as a radio delete car and had the f41 suspension...all i hav ejustr listed i can back up with documentation in teh forms of my original build sheet , where it shows being shipped to ASC before being sent to the dealer,,as well as my factory GM invoice....i am by no means stating a high value,,but the package is indeed real ...any body interested in discussing these cars with me please email me at kmccraw914@cs.com

I'll take "run on sentences with no punctuation" for $200 please, Alex.

Translation: I have a 1985 Camaro ZF. It indeed has a wood-grain dash, Grant GT steering wheel, and ZF emblems all over. As for power, it is a 2.8 V6, but it will put it sideways on dry pavement. The outside is in a little rough shape but the interior is A1. I have pictures, just ask and I will email them to you.

There was a Camaro ZF for sale near my house 2 summers ago. It was an 85 (i think?)...It was black with 2 long gold stripes going down the hood and decklid and it had louvers. It had105k miles and was for sale for $1500 i think. The seller had it for sale on pretty much every main road in my area...

I did see it again in the Walmart parking lot, with 4 teenagers in it (apparently the new owners).

dont know if it was a v6 or v8 though.
