If you are gona go auto I would go to a bone yard and pick those parts up... only reason is it will probably save you a bit of cash and they are pretty easy to find.... The 305 out of z28 are the same as the rest unless you get the l69 block which has the better heads and cam in it (more compression from the heads and more cam to it) so really.. if you get a 305 and swap heads and cam on it you will still have a decent motor for the car.. and you will probably notice a huge diference compared to what you have now.. not only in power, but in the lack of money in your wallet cause of gas lol

According to the parts and Illustration catalogs the only V8 engine to get different heads from 82-86 was the 82-84?? (not exactly sure on years might be 82, or both 82 & 83) LG4, beyond that they were all the same.

The L69 was identical to the 85 TPI, and 83 CFI engines and was introduced in 1983. IIRC, actually from 85 & 86 everything was the same in the 305 engines except the cam, and the exhaust manafolds are suposedly different.

Yea the heads were the 82-84 (only thirdgens i own and since he has an 83' i was shooting him a specific thing that would match his car year) The manifolds are not different however.. as far as I can see by comparing the one on my stock 1984 z28 HO Vs my L69 I have in my 1983 Berlinetta from a swap, vs the stock 1984 berlinetta I have. all the same.. the head numbers are different (the original compression for the non l69 cars was 8.5 ot 8.7 and the L69 engines was 9.5 - 9.8 as for the engine specs i got from GM about it... So that was why i brought up the heads for the 82-84's. the cam is obviously different depending on the power output for the car since it has alot to do with it. But Like i was saying. Get a decent 5.0L block, and puts some decent heads and a decent cam in it and you will be good to go...Heck If you get a v8 shortblock I have stock intakes and carbs for it just laying around my place lol... I also have a few sets of heads.. although I will be getting one of them rebuilt to go on the standby engine... (I drive hard, so i always have a second engine on standby, so when the current one fails, i can swap them and be running in a day, and then i fix the old block (if it is fixable fora decent range) and then make it the standby lol)

Although I'm not really a Berli fan, I was fascinated by this car. I've never seen one in this condition, and it was a real treat to be able to.
I was at the GM Nat's and I saw that car being trailered into the show. That car was one of the cleanest berli's ive ever seen. I was talking to the owner for a little while and he said a farmer had bought it new and it was kept in his barn ever since. He said it had never seen rain or snow. I was completely amazed when i saw the interior because it was so well kept and the fact that it had the telescoping radio and guages. nice car.

that one right there is what my red one will look like when the frame is fixed and it is repainted (minues the t-tops).. Mine has the starwars cluster in it too (the radio pod, and the telescoping dash parts and the digital cluster.. Which actually works the way it should)

I am not positive. I iwll have to go out tonight and look .. will have nothing else to do.... But the dash did have 2 pods the teleschoped out on either side of the guage cluster... (it held all the push button switched for headlights and such. Mine even has the switch for the blinkers there (it is a up/nuetral/down switch. was OEM ) I think that the steering wheel may have, since it was not like the steering wheels in the rest of the camaro's. The Ones with the Star wars cluster were pretty unique, and parts of that desgin can be seen in some of the newer cars sorta...
