I have a berlinetta what parts are you looking for? Some things like the tail lights you will have to restore yourself. if you have any info or any questions please email me. Maybe we can work together on restoring the 3rd gen bastard child?
Thanks Randy

... Got to find us some one to reproduce these things! I was also thinking of starting some kind of registry for these cars, as not many of them as i see are around anymore, (only 2 other running ones of the berlinetta/LT models in my area, includeing mine)... Although theres a crap load of them in my area Junk yards... all of the exterior trim on them are crap though. Supreme Member

yea, thats common. hard to find anything good for those cars. most of them have been wrecked or bought and stripped for thier inteiors for the other camaros and such. I am lucky enough to have a complete parts car just sittin here and i take parts as i need lol (which has not happened yet) to put on my other one.. I have been thinking about molding the center hub things and reproducing them things.. Pretty common thing that people are looking for if they have stock wheels.

I have a new front bumper emblem but not the rear. I have old emblems I just need to find somone to replate them.
I got a set of berlinetta caps off ebay for $55.00. there not gm though, but for $55.00 what the heck, its better than not having anything on the wheels.

aint that the truth, My GM dealer cant seem to locate the emblem on their database
i know its discontuined, but i would think they would be able to find it on the diagrams lol, anyways who would be able to repaint/replate the emblems? interior shops? paint shops? powerdcoaters? Custom paint place?

Find a 82-92 Camaro Parts and Illustration catalog, it will be in there for reference.

yea. not fun.. GM carries no records really of cars that are older than 10 years old. they are all stored in some dingy closet somewhere and they wouldn't take the time to find them for a few people. The hardest 3rd gens to get info on and exact parts for are the 82 to 84 cars.. since there were even body styling differences (fronts nose, rear bumper, tail lights, emblems ect

I dont believe it... I FOUND TRIM!
Heres the links! i dunno about the company and how reliable they are, but.. THEY HAVE BERLY TRIM!
some trim here
And some more trim here
The second link is for the rear bumber, it says 85-87.. but it looks the same as the 83 which im sure it is... i though 87 was the LTs...

yes the 86's were LT's i think 86 was the year they switched them.
As for the trim parts to the burly.. and the rear bumpre there are differences i have notice between them. one is the color . on some of the ones 85 and above I have seen silver ones, where mine are all silver not gold.. which is inteesting since they are GM originals.. *shrugs*. And mine is an 83 burly too so i dunno.. good find though. i could use one for the back bumper.. the biggest things when restoring are the front nose and the back bumper are slightly different along with the tail lights and such..

my tail lights are sliver as well, i just assumed the paint wore off, i dont mind slight changes in color as long as it looks good, heck my diver side door was hit before i bought it (long before, driver side paint was redone.. and hasnt started chipping yet
) what exact differences were their? the berly tags were all glue on right? exept for the 3bar/chevy logo

that is correct. they all used a lack adhesive i believe.. Mine i have had to stick back on with clear silicone adhesive ( the original was so old i washed my car the other day and the embles fell off.
The tail lights are different in the center stripe down the middle. I have one from like 86 on it which is different than the original. The fronts are different around the marker lights in the front of the car, and the rear is different in the actually size.. ( it goes out a little further but not much and is not very noticeable).
The emblems were sold in gold and silver, depending on the car i guess or rather what it had in the car. I have no way to see if that is true though.. Mine is all power, and came with the 305 in it.. not the common v-6 that seemed to be in them most often. Another difference depending on year and options was the entire center inteior console and dash. this did include the dash pad was different.
Few more things that i nknew there are but i have to compare the three camaros i have, but do nt have an 86 and up to compare yet... although i did a little when i met the local club.
One of the other things is the interior rear view mirror that was in the car may not be there (if the windshield was every replaced within 5 years) The thing is slides onto is bigger than it works with so most have put on aftermarket mirrors in order to have it fit properly.
Gear ratios are another oddity. they are all over the place, but dependant upon some things it could have the low or up to the 3.08 gears
I have also noticed that the fenders, depending on the car can be a little bit different between the 82-84 and 85 on up
as far as fitment issues with the original nose...
as far as that i would need to have a late model 3rd gen to look at and compare lol.
The wheels are an interesting thing two.. if you still have them they do look nice when all cleaned up.. That whole gold paint on them though is crappy looking.. the best i could say there is go in and have them gold chrome plated, and then have the polished area's silver.. it wil look alot better.
Personally i am going to polish the whole thing.. just to make them all shiny, and not many have them that way since it is a pita to do.

I was thinking of powder coating them with a nicer Gold, i agree the gold on them looks ugly, gm could have gone better with a gold. I was thinking of going to a custom rim shop and have them re mill my wills (make new ones) in 15's or 16's, 14's are a bit 2 small lol, Thanks for the break down on the Emblems and such. My car is all power execpt for mirrors and review mirror, i looked at my orginal when i found it, had some black with gold still remaining (although extreamly worn) so i know this car came with the gold trim... I believe the silver came with the LT's however that cold be incorrect. I havent had a chance to even look at my rear gears, However i do have my orginal window sticker and the build sheet, However i havent taken time to pull my seat to get the build sheet.

lol... the silver's must have come on the berlinetta's as well (since the burlinetta ran in the third gen series from 1982 to 1985 or 86. Then the LT's took the berlinetta's place.. same car.. different name.. and you play games with insurance comapnies on what car you actually have... the emblems and such i am going to have all done in chrome with a nice blue or purple color done to them as well.. sorta like purple or blue chrome lol. depending on what i decide for a final car color... yea.. mine didn't even have a build sheet, or RPO code sheet or anything.. so i am pretty much SOL on figureing out exactly what is what lol... but yea.. mine is pretty much a project.. a long long project.. and will become tons longer if i go overseas for schooling.. 300% import tax is sorta scary .... at least you can live nicely on 5k a year (american of course) lol.
Free schooling too at a British International school.. wish i could bring the burly or z.. would be the only one there *sigh* Guess i will have to get a *****.... and then import it here once i am done...
*edit* who knew that r.i.c.e.r. was bleeped out..

if the sliver did come on the berly i havent seen any proof around here, ive seen junkers with their trim on up to 85 i believe (they use paint to mark what year) all the trim was gold execpt for the dash trim which is a silver color. I have yet to see an LT here

yep. just needs a frame pull and some new radiator supports put on.. i have new panels for it and a new hood and nose
My car won that fight though.. the 4x4 was a mess.. it's back tire hooked the front well enough to brake the u-bolt holding it unton the leaf spring.. which tore the rear axel off the truck.. along with the driveshaft... It then flipped on it's side and went through a fire hydrant, and wrapped a telephone pole...
Score one for chevy.. minus one for ford lol

mine did the same thing.. i had to replace the sending unit.. and the slip for it on the wire.. then it was fine.. best way to check that is pull a valve cover off when it is running and see if you are getting oil to the rockers.. and that it is sqirting. not dribbling..
The kits comes with 2 books.. the first one has every code, option code and all the information on axel ratios for cars, weights, options, explinations of the camshafts in some engines (like the L69) and all that stuff.. basically it is what GM uses to answer all of our silly questions most times lol.. The other book is a list of vendors which supply every type of part for our cars you can imagine... They have web site addres, phone numbers and the whole nine... Basically it gives you everything you need in order to restore the camaro to factory floor condition.
And gives you nifty insight.. like i never knew the 83 Z28 with the L69/T5 was only 2950 Lbs.... go fig..

Oh yea.. and it is free lol... Took for ever on the phone to GM in order to get a person who knew what i was talkin about though lol... but I hear it is easier now.. The wait time will be like 2 weeks to 5 months.. depending on when they send the stupid thing...

I hear tapping when the enigne is running, The tapping sounds like their is NO oil getting to the rockers.

no charge at all.. and yea.. if it a tappin.. then it ain't good..
Makes me happy I always have a spare engine that runs on hand so i can pull and drop.. and then fix the other when i have the time/money. Been switching between 3 engines since 1999 lol... my L69 i have in the thing right now is wonderful though.. Only thing i have problems with is the holley carb on the stupid thing.. and i have something loose or something...... might be the heads finally given up though.. But i have 2 sets of those that are rebuilt now. one stock and one fully ported and polished....

if only i could afford an extra engine.... However i do know of a guy who has a tpi or is a tbi 2.8 engine, hopefully he still has it and wants to still just give it away.. then i would be able to swap my intake and carb over to the other engine and sell the tbi/tpi parts
and whom do i call for the package?

I went to the GM Website and called customer service.. and yea.. basically my engines came with a car i bought except for the L69... 2 305's one from an 80 camaro, one from an 83 camaro and then the L69
The 1980 camaro cost me 325$ in 1999. (drove it away as it was an decent condition except for paint a bad lifter, and missing interior parts). The 1983 I picked up for $100 in Yorktown VA, Drove it 1500 miles back home 2 hours after i bought it.. just changed oil in it. filled it with coolant (was bone dry and they were complaining it was overheating.. well gee.. i wonder why) And sucked a quart of extra tranny fluid out.. (i wonder why it was slippin geez)... the L69 Engine was bought for 300$. so all total I have like... $725 in three cars.. plus a few extras like my holley carb and edlebrock intake for it ($125) for both.

I bet they felt really dumb! selling a car because theirs no anti freeze....
you would think if they saw No anti freeze in the overflow tank they would check the radiator for it... but it makes me wonder where all that antifreeze went.... Supreme Member

they took it to their "trusted mechanic" a month prior who did some "work" on the car.. I figure it was one of those shady ones who do things to the car to make repeat business... got a couple of those here.. Mother had a car that needed the tranny replaced, and my father and I were gone, so she took it in.. and they drained the antifreeze and replaced with straight water.... Same thing with to much tranny fluid... i figure it was done on purpose to have them keep coming back.. The timing on the thing was set so far advanced I could not even find the timing mark on the thing until i crawled under the car on the ramp.... thats right.. it was almost dead bottom....... i was like OMG, but it ran.. so i dunno... lol Battery was friend too (brought a spare one) .. I just could not see letting a camaro be a grocery getter..... yesh

those type of mechanics have made me distrust most, if not all of the mechanics in my area.. I know for a fact that the place that did my r134a conversion striped out a bolt for the, im guessing the low pressor line (the line metal line nearest the ground for the a/c) and the possably screwed up my a/c box... I lost my cold air after a week of use w/ no leakes in the engine bay.

oh yea that would **** me off.. I think the low preassure side is actually the top one.. but ours could be different perhaps.. But yea.. if the striped it and did were not able to tighten all the conversion nips up... then it is actually leaking very very slowly . but yea.. i do all that stuff myself.. I have the vac pump and such to suck all the r12 out of the systems and replace with 134a.. and i have a 20lbs cyl full of 134a (Father is a trucker so her can get alot of stuff us normal people can not from shops.)

what really pissed me off is that i took it to another place a year later (this year, not the previous year), they recharged it, and i replaced the metal pipe with that fiting that was striped out with a junk yard peice that i was in good shape, So that connection is fine now, but the R134 still leaked out.. Im thinking the previous place didnt replace the rubber hoses at the orginal conversion

possible.. probably had a person who did not know what they were doing.. I can not even take my car in to get tuned at any of the shops around here... I can't even take it to the college to get it tuned, buecause it is Not a Computer controlled car.... Seems they are skipping steps when they are taching these new people how to fix things...

I have some pictures that may serve as a reference for those of you who are restoring a Berli. At the GM Nationals car show this year, a guy had a super low mile Berli for sale. It had under 10k miles on it, so I took the opportunity to take pictures.

Although I'm not really a Berli fan, I was fascinated by this car. I've never seen one in this condition, and it was a real treat to be able to.
