Hello. Does anyone have the main emission decal for a 1982 Firebird Trans Am or Firebird Special Edition? It is for a federal not California 305 motor 5.0 Liter engine, 4 barrel carbs, and automatic transmission. The part number is #14063714 and the code is LAJ. All I need is a good close up digital picture of the main rectangular shaped decal. I already have the hose routing decal.

I have been asking someone else in this third gen club who does have it, for several months, but they did not send the picture to me. This decal is very important to me because I need it to register the car. It has been ver a year since I started the registration process and it is still not registerd. This has caused me much stress and anxiety. I feel like some people just don't care.

If anybody decides to help me out, two close up pictures(macro mode on the digital camera) would be greatly appreciated! One picture of the left side of the decal and one picture of the right side of the decal. They should both be zoomed in as much as possible while still being able to get the entire left side and then the entire right side. It should be legible where I can read it. I should be able to have every detail. I know beggars can't be choosers, but this is extremely important to me.

I would be extremely grateful if anybody helps me out!

why can't you get it registered without the decal, Some crazy state law or something? I don't believe my '82 has the emissions decal either.

edit...I didn't see you are from California at first. I guess that would be why. After cars are 25 years old do they become exempt from emissions testing?

Well, I have a non cali sticker on my 82 S/E. 5.0 4bbl but with the 4 speed, the sticker has the info for the auto & manual tranny's so it should work for your situation.

my pt# is 14060683 , I will post a pic of it here monday and see what you think. It's in very good shape so it might work to get you passed.

WHere have you tried to get the tag from?
Have you tried classic industries or Year One nextgen.com? They have some of that stuff...

Also try a dealer by off chance they may be able to get them.

I really don't understand why you need the stickers for smog... My old '82 didn't have the stickers and it passed with no problem.

yeh, that is what the smopg people are telling me. They think that it may be a California car and that I am just saying it is a federal car to make it easier to pass smog.

Calfornia gets so **** when it comes to emissions.

You know how they have cameras where if you have a red light then a picture is taken of your license plate.
Well...............I saw on the news the other vday that they are going to do the same thing but with a certain machine that can detect emissions while you are driving.

What has California come to.

Actually when I smogged my old '82 CFI T/A for the first time it was smogged as a California car... The second time I had it smogged, it was done as a Federal car... The MAX emissions numbers were exactly the same both times. So go ahead and smog it as a CA car and get it back on the road!

Up here we refer to California as "the Land of Fruits and Nuts."

Of course Michigan has its share of Fruits to go around, no nuts that I can think of... Just Cherry Pits.

That is the stupidest thing I ever heard

I don't even know how it would be possible with a bunch of other cars around. Not only that but I'm sure the accuracy wouldn't be very good. Just another way for big brother to keep an eye on you
