89 trans am question

89 trans am question
One of my local used car dealers has a 89 trans am. This T/A looks like a gta but it has the indy 500 emblem on the rockers like a pace car but the car is red. my question is did they make a pace car edition in red. if not why would it have the indy 500 embems. any help would be apprciated.

There is one that I know of:
TTA test mules
I highly doubt there was another. If there was, the guy above would own it. Is there a TPI motor, or a turbo 6c? Someone probably just threw emblems on there.
