Cylinder heads off transverse 3.o liter FWD engine, pistons (to make up cc difference), individual rocker arms (not shaft mounted like GN's), headers........I think that is about it.

Engine: all 225+ RWHP
Transmission: all OD
Axle/Gears: Always the good ones
headers, crossover, down pipe.

Aforementioned fwd heads to make it narrower that regular gn engines for clearance. aforementioned pistons to accomodate head chamber size (cc)

different accessory belt(narrower engine slightly)

Latest turbo(same but latest revision)

16.5 psi vs 14.5 psi boost

GNx intercooler vs stock gn intercooler(more fins yadda yadda)

cross drilled crank

Actually uses a real oil filter :-) lol

Higher psi fuel pressure from the factory(43.5 i think vs. 38 or so)

No rev limiter/fuel cut off 170mph here we come.

Better looking and more aerodynamic car :-)

Frustrates me more than nay turbo car I have ever worked on.

Sure theres other little things too, but tthose are the big ones.

Hit up turbobuick.com TTA board or turbobuicks.com or gnttype.org and the like for more info.

later

Thanks. I am considering droping a GN style Turbo 6 into our 1967 Firebird convertible. I figure since it came in a Firebird, it is stock, right?

One of the biggest problems with the GN motor swapover, is that the Trans Am uses a vacumn on the brakes, not like the GN electric. So, a few top end changes for the hoses to work.
Good luck with the changeover, and let us know how it works out! Times, too!

can these rwd heads and individual rocker arms still be purchsaed from GM? i am thinking (real tentative, need funding) of doing a similar swap so,time in the future (someday.....) can they be found on any other vehicle or were they streictly TTA parts?

thanks

Hit up the junkyards. The heads can be found on 87 and up FWD 3.0 Buick LeSabre engines. I don't know much about the rocker arms, but one can assume that the ones off those heads will more than likely work out.

Is the heads from a 3.0 engine or FWD 3.8?

To my knowedge Buick did not make a 3.0 V6 engine. The LeSabre only got a 3.8L engine in the late 80's thru current.

BTW, you will need to check the Head casting numbers, as there was a change in 1995 when they went to the Series II 3800.

I am also not sure if the 88? thru 90 3.8 Engine used the same heads as the 91+ 3800.

The heads were from the production 3.8L LeSabre engine.

They were used (as mentioned above) for clearance issues; more specifically for the A/C system is what I have read.

Buick did indeed make a 3.0 baby V6.

Just as an FYI you CAN use the stock GN heads, you just won't be able to hook up AC

sweet, one less change to make, i don't plan on letting ac rob my engine of power, and those turbo buick heads look cool , actualy i guess it's the valve covers that look cool. they have "BUICK" in huge letters with a big turbo symbol (TTA 1387s avitar image) on them. looks sick

I always thought the Turbo symbol was also the number 6 for "6 cyl". I think it was a Buick only thing... a cool double meaning if you ask me.

I like the symbol too.
