How many versions of the Dana 44 did GM make?

In the course of a brake upgrade on MY Dana 44. Some others pointed out that THEIR Dana 44's were different than mine.

Here is the thread, LT1 disks on a Dana 44 .

I suspect that there were pre and post 1989 rear ends. I bought mine from A.J. Foyt Chevrolet in (IIRC) 1987. It came with complete rear disk brakes pre-installed at the factory.

Does anyone have first hand experience with a post '89 Dana 44 rear end?
If so did you get it from GM or SLP?
Does it have the axle flange that mine has or the other style pictured (towards the end) in the thread above?
Did your rear end come with brakes?

Did any others have the Torque arm mount cast in to the center housing?
