0? I do not think the RS was available in 87. It did not start back up until 89.

I think mine must be very rare then, as it is an RS and it is an '87. According to the VIN it was built in California and it's the only place they were available. Anyone know where I can find more details?

Take a look in teh FAQ section of this site. IIRC it states somwhere how many RS's were made for the 87 model year.

IIRC it wasnt more than a 1000 were made.

I took a look at the FAQs, Kat, but couldn't find any #s for '87s, at least not specifically what I'm after. Thanks tho. Sent an e-mail to Chevrolet this afternoon to see if they have any info. Will post their reply, if they have one...

They indeed made '87 RS's...I have an '87 Motor Trend road test of an RS if you have any questions

The RS was a California-only option package that was so popular, it became standard nationwide by '89. Anyone who has any questions or wants the full story, please post away, or email me at JasonEE98@aol.com

You guys aren't the first to want this article...hey, how could I blame you?? Of my entire Motor Trend collection (June '79 to current) this is the ONLY 2.8 Camaro test.

I will borrow a friend's scanner and send it out by the weekend

BTW, its in 1 of my books too....Willie may have this: "High Performance Camaros, 1982-1988"
ISBN # 1870642066
Its a great source, but it is out of print. Barnes and Noble may be able to find it in a warehouse somewhere, thats how I got mine.

Thanks for the e-mail Jason.

This is from an e-mail I just received this a.m. from Chevrolet:

Thank you for your E-mail to Chevrolet regarding the production numbers for the 1987 Camaro RS. We
certainly appreciate your enthusiasm. Chevrolet produced a total of 6,618 Camaro RS in 1987.
