Yeah the guy said it has new tires, racing rims, custom steering wheel, custom spoiler, 91 z28 hood, and dark tint, almost new paint....But downsides are that the lifter ticks? (i dont know what that is) and the passenger seat has some blemishes but not rips. How much do you people think its worth?

Has it been driven in winters ? is it org. motor ? how many miles on car ? what speed does the speedometer go to ? what gears does it have ? That "lifter ticking sound" is what the cam lobes push on ( one lifter per lobe , 16 all together ). From about 1987 up camaro V8's used a hydraulic roller lifter . You might want to MAKE SURE it's a bad lifter(s) before you go sinking any money into it. What would your plans be w/ this car race , street/strip ? It is certainly a great looking car , BUT you need to know MORE . What type of fuel system do you have TBI or TPI ? Get the VIN# and run it on this site and find out ORG. what the car was or still may be . Once you have retrieved some info then I could give you a good "ballpark figure" Also check EVERY and ANYwhere for rust! Hope this helps .

Yes it has been driven winters..it has 107,000 miles on it...its a automatic...and i would just use it as a daily driver...maybe race it once in awhile... I am going to take it to a mechanic and ask him to check it out before i buy it..

Not bad! hey , If it's the lifter(s) your worried about then I wouldn't . it involves taking off intake , distributor , waterpump , timingchain cover , and radiator ( not as bad as it sounds) if it has AC the codensor might need to come out as well . NOTE this is practicaly everything you need to pull a cam and replace those lifters . You will also want to remove the valve covers along w/the rocker arms( you will just have to reset valve lash when your done. You could avoid taking out everything that needs to be removed in order to get to the cam and just have the intake+valvecovers+distriutor taken off so you can just replace the lifter(s) ( set of 16=$150.00 ) , BUT w/ 107,000 miles on the clock "why not" replace the cam too (a performance cam $250.00 ) , you still need to do a little research -- also find out if that is a 305cc or 350cc engine! You could also just take it to a "good" garage and have the work done ( someone that knows how to set valve lash+ degree the cam). Things aren't sounding too bad "so far" . later

need more info - still . check everywhere for rust , what size engine , fuel system , everything and any thing you can dig up about this car . It , whatever the price may be , is still money , and you want to invest your money wisely . Now , with the ifo you have given me so far , and looking at the car I am going to say somewhere in the $3-$4,000 price range . Hey , by any chance here , is the seller asking you to make an offer !? Keep digg'n , get every bit of info you can .It realy would be wise to post that VIN# up here and I could run it for you. Also , got to www.carfax.com and get the low-down on how many owners it's had ! later

The seller told me he thinks 3200 is fair...im going to offer 3000. It is a 305 i think...How much do you think it would cost to have a garage do the lifter work for me?
thanks guys

hard to say realy , kind of depends where you go . If you can call around and find the lowest rate w/ someone who has a reputable name then you might just have found your mechanic . Did you find out if that was TPI or TBI ( you want TPI "tuned port injection" ) ? As far as labor goes , mabie 4-5 hour job "for a mechanic that is" . You know , it wouldn't hurt to be thinking about a new engine ( 107,000 --"get'n kinda old" ) for that puppy! Perhaps a GM ZZ4 crate long block for around $3,000.00 ----that would be wise . you can find some nice GM performance engines and parts at www.nextgenparts.com . Think about it , your geting this car for say $3,000.00 ( what a deal , especialy if the rest of the body is in good shape ). " YOU'VE GOT THE MONEY TO BURN BROTHER"

I'd say go ahead and buy the car ! Only thing you might want to do is CHECK FOR RUST ! It would help alot if you could run the RPO codes ( they are alphabeticly situated ) in the trunk , to the left , you you will find a little compartment w/a keyhole on it , unlock and lift the " hatch" , on the back of the "hatch" is where your codes should be .Get those codes and the VIN and post them ! The only other place you might find the codes ( if not in the trunk ) are on the inside of the center console . GOOD LUCK W/your purchase !
