G92 1/4mile times &rare??

What's the 1/4mile times for the 89 G92 irocZ w/ 305TPI,5spd,dual cats,3.45 posi 9bolt, 230hp,300ftlbs? I never see anything on these cars. Are they rare? I heard they'll beat the 89 350 if driven right.

High 14's to low 15's, and no they're not faster than the L98's when they're both "driven right".

I have Motor Trend road tests of both a '91 230hp Z28 and a '90 230hp IROC 1LE...both did 0-60 in 6.5 sec. 350s were between 5.8 for a '90 350 IROC and 6.4 for a GTA.

Whoops, forgot the other part of your question

There were only 1,426 G92s made in '89, so it is rare regardless of which engine it has. Now, I would venture a guess (that I have NOTHING to base it on) that there were more 350 G92s than there were 305s.

Why?? 1st, they made more 350s total than LB9 (TPI) 305s in '89. Second, normally the all-out performance guys went for the big motor, even though you couldn't get it with a stick. Third, a 5 speed 305 TPI is rare as it is!! I haven't seen a 305 TPI 5 speed '89 in a LONG time. So my GUESS is a G92 305 is rarer than a G92 350...either way, its a rare car. Keep it nice!!!!

I've put a Thermomaster chip(160*stat,fan switch also), Flowmaster catback, KN filters, custom made cold air intake, removed maf screens, Bosch +4 spark plugs, 93octane required in my 89 G92. Do ya think it could beat a 350 or a 5.0 GT? How much horsepower do ya think I have now? Does 150mph sound about right for a top speed? I don't thrash my car very often since it's my baby and it is in prestine condition. I've had it up to 145 and it still pulls now. My friends 93 TA auto,3.23 topped out at 150 also, he beat me by only a car length or so. Any third gen clubs or any camaro clubs in Kansas????????

The fastes 1/4 mile time I have seen on these 305's is a 14.7 and I have seen a 14.4 by a 1990 IROCZ tested by motor trend.

Awsome, i too have an 89 G92 equipped IROC, 5L/5 speed.
As for 1/4 miles times, with 3.70 gears, headers, 3" catback flowmaster exhaust and PR chip, i've turned an awful 15.3xx (with bad tires) but i managed a MPH of 96.7 mph. So yes, the power is there, the car is fast, tires and better driving should keep up with a 350.

I had a 87 (non g92) 305/5speed/3.45
and got a best of 15.3 @91 mph at 3500 ft.
