Those are GTA wheels and are on just about all GTA's.

OK, so I rushed through reading your topic!! Anyway, correct they came with all GTA's 87 on, but they must've been put on by some1 since GTA's and those wheels came out in 87 and not in 86.

Those wheels were available in black/charcoal in 86, and came standard in Gold on GTAs. I believe you've already been told that by a bunch of people on your other posts though.

Hey Tom i dont own a thirdgen TA but i have seen two thirdgen TAs with those rims. i have probrably seen more but cant remember. the one i am pretty sure was an 86 the other i saw at a distance. i have also seen a TA for sell with those same rims only in white and they said they were stock not sure if thats correct but its the only one i have seen with white rims other than the 84 anniversay but those were five spoke rims not diamond spoke. i think they look good. oh i have seen another i think on this board its two tone blue with the same rims and i believe it was an 86 also.TINFY

Just about all Trans Am's 1986-91 had those rims. I've also seen a few 85 with them. They are called Black Crosslace wheels. Those are also the wheels that you got in 1991 on your Formula if you wanted the 350 w/T-Tops (don't ask me why?).

GTA's had Gold Crosslace rims from 1987-1992.

I actually have no clue why everyone calls them "GTA wheels", there not! They are if anything "Trans Am wheels". They were simply painted gold for the GTA to match the special badging they got......They are really called "Crosslace" wheels

yep... the Crosslace wheels come on basically all 88-90 WS6 T/As, and all 91/92 T/As have them, WS6 or not.

 

A little more information on this. I had an 86TA with this type of wheel. The RPO code sheet shows three codes pertaining to the wheels (PW7-WHEEL, 16 X 8, ALUMINUM, DIAMOND SPOKE, QDZ-TIRE ALL, P245/50VR16/N BL R/PE ST TL HW4,84P-WHEEL COLOR GRAY (91)). I currently have an 86TA with N96 WHEEL, 16 X 8, CAST ALUMINUM. The N96 Wheel is the HiTech Turbo Type Wheel. Apparently you could order either type of 16 inch wheel in 86 as well as a number of different style 15" wheels. Both of the above cars are WS6's with 4 Wheel disc brakes. I have copies of the codes sheet in case anyone still does not believe that "GTA" style wheels were available on 1986 TA's.

 

i dont know what everyone else is meaning when they say it but when i referre to the rims as being GTA rims i mean the gold 87 -90 GTA rims. if the person doesnt know what i am talking about when i say crosslace then i just say like the GTA rims only black or charcoal. just out of curiosity how many 91-92 TAs were made i know they are not as rare as GTAs but can someone give me a roundabout figure.thanks.TINFY
