Could there be any reason to believe that the console has been replaced? When I was looking for my last Camaro, I saw one with 2 different stickers, one under the lid and another on the inside of the box. Neither VIN matched the one on the cowl! Your best bet is to go to a GM dealer parts dept with your VIN and they will print out all your RPO codes and what they mean.

My sticker has been peeled off too. I have already gone to the dealer to get all of the codes for my VIN number. Is there any way to get a new one printed?

I was told today by my GM dealer that the availability of the RPO code "printout" info everyone is talking about applies to 1990 and newer models only.....

Those of us with older 3rdGens that have no SPI labels still in the gloveboxes are S-O-L, I guess.....

or are u saying the GM dealer won't make a new rpo sticker for the 89 or older?

According to my local GM parts "guru", evidently GM's newest computer system is set up for 1990 and newer models..... the 1990 and newer models can be called up via VIN and every single RPO on a particular car or truck can be identified.

So all us pre-1990 folks are screwed.....

The only other option is to actually find a build sheet somewhere in your car; the RPO codes will all be on that sheet, if you find it. But they were not put in all cars..... pretty much just at the discretion of the assembly line workers of that particular shift.

Ditto what Bud said. My SPID sticker is on the back of the lid on the locking glove box in the rear.

The SPI labels were moved to the rear locking storage compartment for 1991. I guess GM figured they'd be less likely to get peeled off or damaged there.

So the 1991 and 1992 models are much more likely to still have the stickers in place.

Wish they's have done that from the start.....

Not all '91's have them in that location. When I was shopping around for my car I came across three '91 Firebirds with the RPO sheet in the center console. I agree with the comment about the discretion of the assembly line workers.

The SPID and the Build Sheet are different. The SPID just lists the RPO codes with no description. The Build Sheet can be in a variety of places and are often removed. The SPID sticker is NOT suppose to be removed as it is to assist Service in knowing what equipment is on your car.

My mistake...... every 91-92 F-body I've ever seen has the SPI label on the rear storage compartment lid, and my GM RPO code book shows that location as well.

The build sheets are sometimes put on top of the fuel tank, but I've never seen one that was in a plastic bag..... just stuck on top. Those in this location are often times illegible due to weathering.

I guess you can still learn something new every day......

Two of my 91's have them in the rear glove box, the other had it in the front glove box. GM changed a lot of things mid year on the 91's... Early 91 cars and late 91 cars have differences... Same goes for 92.

As for the build sheet, I have yet to find one in any of my cars. However after my 83 was totalled I still had the seats floating around and when I moved in here I found the build sheet on the bottom of the passengers seat. The best part is that GM put the piece of paper between the foam padding of the seat and the steel wires that hold the seat cover in place. Needless to say there wasn't much left of it.

Anybody know how to get a replacement build sheet?
