ALL '92 CAMARO OWNERS, PLEASE ANSWER MY SURVEY!

IF YOU OWN A 1992 CAMARO PLEASE REPLY AND LET ME KNOW IF YOUR CAR HAS THE ANNIVERSARY EMBLEM ON THE BACK HATCH AND WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE THE HERITAGE PACKAGE.

Okay, I have another post open right now but this one may get a better turnout. I have a 92 Z28 without the heritage package but it still has a 25th anniversary emblem on the trunklid. People inform me it has been stuck on there by a previous owner. This could be the case but I am wondering if other non-heritage cars have this badge too. Also, what side is it supposed to be on?

I have a '92Z and it is NOT a heritage and I have the anniversary emblem located on the driver's side of the deklid. Your dash should have a similar looking emblem as well. All 1992 Camaro's were designated 25th Anniversary's. It does not need to be a heritage edition to have the emblem.

A question for you... I noticed that you have a 6-speed... (-drool-) Tell me more... Bolt in? Price? Effort? Where'd you get it? All the good details...?

THANK YOU!! That is exactly what I thought. Maybe the RS's didn't get it but the Z's did. I hope people from the other post see this.

Anyone else got the badge?

I have a 92 Z conv and do not have the emblem. Maybe conv did not get them, I guess we will find out. If you are looking at the back of the car, the emblem goes on the left hand side. One thing to mention though, in the GM Service Manual, all the drawings have the hertige package with the emblem and no emblem with the normal paint.

I have a '92 RS with the heritage package (RPO Z03). I do have the rear decklid emblem. It was my understanding that you only got the rear decklid emblem if you got the heritage package. I have seen many other '92 Camaros and the only ones I saw that had this emblem were the ones with the heritage package. As far as I know, all '92's got the dash emblem. I will have to find my sales brochure and see if it mentions anything.

As Mike said in the other post, the eblem is curved to fit the decklid. Since drop-tops have a different decklid, maybe they couldn't use the emblem. Just a thought. Anyone else?

Okay, here is my next question, Is it an L98 car or an LB9. Mike 25th's and mine are both L98s. P.haze92, what engine is in yours? I doubt that it would make a difference but it is worth asking.

You would not have it unless you have the (RPO)Z03 package on your car.

I was just looking through my 92 service manual and I see that the heritage vars were supposed to get the same emblem on the hood right above the pass. side headlight. I have never seen that before. You guys out there with the LO3, did you have that one too?

All 1992 Camaros received the 25th Anniversary designation and is shown on the interior dash badge.

The rear exterior emblem is part of the Heritage Appearance Package, RPO Z03. This is true for all RS's and Z28's. The part number of the RS and Z28 badges are different, due to the difference in curvature of the mounting surface. RS emblems were affixed to the rear spoiler and Z28's were placed on the trunk lid under the high-rise spoiler (wing, if you will). It is a common practice for owners of non-Z03 Camaros to add the rear emblem.

The front exterior emblem shown in service literature was never used.

Look, I keep hearing people say the emblem only came on the heritage cars only. I have heard this a billion times. I am not saying you are wrong, just show me your source (sevice manual, bulletin, etc). That is all I ask.

As for people interested in answering my survey, if you have a 92, please say if it is a Z or RS, engine size, wether or not you have the exterior emblem, and if it is a heritage edition or not.

I would like to hear from someone with a 92 convertable Z03 car. The service manual did not show the installation of the emlem on those cars an I am wondering if the have it.

Could it be a remote possibility that a billion people are correct?

My 1992 GM sales literature states, "25th Anniversary Heritage Appearance Package (includes hood/deck stripes, body color grille, black headlamp pockets AND special badging)."

As for people interested in answering my survey, if you have a 92, please say if it is a Z or RS, engine size, wether or not you have the exterior emblem, and if it is a heritage edition or not.
I currently own a '92 RS. It does not have RPO Z03 nor any exterior badging. If that's not enough, I examined intently NEW 1992 Camaros in Houston back in 1991-92 -- I almost bought one. At that time, I had owned numerous Camaros, dating back to 1983 (my first new car, a 1983 Berlinetta). Needless to say, I know my Camaros. When I was looking to buy a '92, I saw dozens of new '92 Camaros at several dealerships. The only "badged" Camaros I saw all had stripes.

In addition, Tim Burgess bought his '92 Z28 new. It does not have RPO Z03 nor exterior badging. He did however, install a rear deck emblem.

Here's even more info. According to the Camaro Technical Database,

quote
'Heritage Edition' package available on all Camaros. Package included first generation Camaro style hood and rear deck stripes, body colored grille, black headlamp pockets and a 25th anniversary badge on rear spoiler (RS) or hatchback rear edge (Z28). Initially heritage package only available as white car with red stripes; black car with red stripes; or red car with black stripes. Mid-year, additional Heritage Edition colors available: polo green car with gold stripes (this combination also got gold badges and gold accent wheels); and purple haze car with silver stripes.
end quote

Although it may not have any further pertinent info, I threw this together yesterday:

The 25th Anniversary Heritage Package Camaro Web Page

Not much to it, though there are various pics of ZO3 equipped Camaros there. Also, since you asked after my first post, I have an RS, LO3 305/TBI, with the Heritage package.

Willie,

Thank you, as you are the first person to give any documentation which is what I have been asking for. Unfotunatley, nothing I have seen excludes other 92s from recieving the emblem. I am sure some wanna-be's out there have stuck the emblem on their car and mine may be one of them. But I am also curious about the 5.7 92's since there was only around 3500 or so made. I have only heard from one other 92 5.7 owner so far, he says he is almost positive his emblem is original. The measuments on mine are exactly as the service manual requires. Obviously, if someone put it on, they could have used the service manual for directions.

I am just curious and aking questions, I just get kind of frustrated when people repeat previously posted info over and over.

My 1992 had the L98 350 in it. In my opinion, the Z03 had to ordered to get that badge on the trunk lid. All 1992's had the 25th Anniversary on the dash. My 92' B4C has that.

Okay people, you have all convinced me, I think it is safe to assume that my emblem was wrongly placed on my car by a previous owner. I talked to a guy yesterday who has the exact same car I do (color and everything) and he didn't have the badge either. It just puzzles me that the previous owner would have gone through the hassle of putting the badge on with as badly as he treated the car. Oh well, thanks to everyone who replied.

I own a '92 L98 Z28 w/ Heritage Appearance Pkg. and it has the decklid emblem.

Also, I priced those emblems.. they are $68.00 direct via GM. Not a cheap emblem.

I have a question for all of you '92 owners, have any of your cars been sent to SLP? I've yet to find anyone elses' car that has been modified by SLP in '92. The owner I bought the car from told me it was sent to SLP directly from GM after purchase to have a Performance Package comparable to the Firehawk installed. He has accompaning paperwork which backs it up.. have I stumbled onto a very rare Camaro? Looking under the hood, it's chocked full of SLP parts.. very eye-grabbing at car shows.

Not too similar to the Firehawk... The Firehwak was a $40,000 car in '92. I used an intake from a '92 Firehawk. One incredible car!

I don't know how you managed to get your hands on a T-RAM, but I congratulate you. I've been trying to get one, for what seems like forever now. I found one guy who said he had one, I drove 150mi. just to find out it was a TPiS Mini-RAM. I almost pummeled him to death. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get yours for -- and was it complete? If not, what was missing? I heard from someone that Summit Racing used to sell them, but no longer does -- is this true? Any help would be appreciated...

I paid around $1600 and it came with a 58mm throttel body, an AFPR and 24# injectors. It was almost complete. It was missing the belt guard and a couple of gaskets, but I was surfing on http://www.firehawk.org and found an installation kit with all necessary hardware in the classifieds. The only thing I am missing now is a throttle braket with TV cable for the automatic trans. Making one shouldn't be a problem, but I will be deleting cruise control because that braket is impossible to find and is ugly as hell! Summit did sell the T-Ram for around $1500 with everything. Every now and then one pops up on eBay too. Just keep you eyes open, I just met a guy that has two, but he's not selling!
