82 Z28 PACE CAR

I have found a extra clean very straight 82 pace car. How can I be sure the car is not just doctored up with stickers? Is there any extra value to these cars? Asking price is 3k. Any ideas what to check before I buy?

There are a few things that are kinda hard to fudge, that are typical only to the pace car. First thing I'd look for is the wheels. They should be the standard Z28 wheel but with a red stripe around the edge. Also check the interior, it may be specific to the pace car.
Ultimately, check the RPO's as they will identify the car. Chances are if the car has the two tone paint, stripes, and pace car decals, its probably not a fake. They made over 6000 replicas so they arent that unusual. The value is about the same as any other 82 Z28.

well the first thing is they had a blue and silver interior, and they have imbroided on the head rest , they aslo came with cross fire injection and they had fiberglass hoods with a functional cowl induction.

The '82 pace cars did'nt only come with the cross fire, some had the 305-LG4, post the body tag from the car and the VIN. this will identify it as real or fake. Chris, previous owner of a '82 pace car

Thanks for all the input! The guy wouldn't budge on the price so he will be hanging on to the car for a while longer. I will see if his tune changes 6 months from now.

Car: 2004 Chevy Avalanche
Engine: Some that run, some that don't
Transmission: 700R4's, a T-5, and a Turbo 350
If that car is as clean as you say it is easily worth $3000. Sure, they made quite a few of them but clean ones are hard to come by. If you wait six month for him to come down on the price it will be gone.

I have no idea of the value any more thoughts? The car is very clean no rips or crackes in the seets and is all complete even has the GM radio. The miles are almost 200K but the car doesn't look it. I was thinking of putting the yellow pace car lights on top for our yearly hot rod cruse in Reno, HOT AUGUST NIGHTS. Any thoughts??

If you want it, buy it, its a decent deal on a car that you don't see everyday.

Check for code 26G on the trim tag. This was the interior for the '82 Pace Car. Also check for option code Z50, I think this shows up on the tag also.
