The 700R4 transmission has been used in thirdgens since 83, so anything from a carb'd 85-87 should work.

And don't forget GM trucks which also recieved the 700r4 starting in 83 as well. They also ran q-jets, even the V6s.

Even a Q-jet from a TH200, TH250, or TH350 equipped car will work. The crank lever on the carb is the same.

GM interchangability rules. You don't need a 700-R4 car carb for it to work.

It looks to be kinda held on the throttle shaft & then the shaft is mooshed over it.

Anything 81-90 should have the right one. Probably 79 & 80 & others too.

What the heck didja end up with, a manual trannied Q-jet?

Might be easier to swap the base...

jmd, I the Q-jet I have is a manual model. Unfortunately, I figure it can't be to hard to switch over to an automatic model. I got a steal on the carb so I am trying to make this one work.

the q-jets used on auto transmission cars have an additional vacuum pot at the rear on the passenger side. it helps shut the back of the carb. down when you suddenly release the gas pedal. according to the books a bad (or missing) pot would cause severe flooding problems. Don't know this from experience, just read it while researching some other q-jet problems.
