350 firebird with T-5

I heard that there was a firebird in the late eighties with a 350 five speed combo. I never really believed it but is it possible it existed. Just curious.

Firehawks are the only manual (and 6 speed) 350 powered 3rd Gen. Good luck on getting one of the 25.

I think in '92 sometime they put 5 speeds with 350's in some 1LE cars, but only like 50 I think.

I think there were some in '91 and '92 too, not many, just test cars, and they were all camaro's too.

Of course there were test cars, but when we say no there arent any, we are refering to cars available to the general public. GM never released any L98 & T5 cars to the public for purchase.

Keith5,I believe the cars you are referring to are the 2 prototype 1992 Heritage B4C RS's that had a modified L98 and ZF 6spd.They were intended for production but were cancelled.I dont believe there were any more test vehicles in that year(why would they be testing the ZF in the last year?)I have an issue of HotRod(April 92)and GMHTP(March 01)that talk about that car.The T-5 350 TEST cars were in 86 IROCS.

Maybe that is what I'm thinking about, I can't remember the source I found that on before. I'm thought that they were 1LE's though, when did 1LE's start?

Just because they didn't officially release any of them doesn't mean they don't exist. Case in point-my car. Everything you read will tell you that you couldn't get a 350 & T-Tops on the same car. Well, I'm driving one (and no the tops aren't aftermarket).

'91 GTA with TPI 350 & T-Tops. Just a few mods, if you want to find out just line up next to me at a stoplight!

Added bonus:
Wife's car is a '00 Grand Prix GTP!

The t-top and L98 arguement has been beat to death already, and yes we know you can get t-tops and L98 engines together.

I was just making a point that because they aren't supposed to exist, sometimes they still do.

I am not saying that the 350 t-5 combo really was released but, just for grins go to auto zone and tell them you need a clutch for an 88 350 firebird and it has a t-5 it comes up with a clutch #. then look up one for the 305 this will have a differant part #. kinda funny and has no real meaning (to me at least) but, if they would have them both it would be great to see the differance
