Well 1st I know of aftermarket guages and such but I dont think this is the case here.
monday I was poking through the back lot of a junk yard "which is usually closed to the public" and came accross an 84 firebird with an 140mph speedo and 8k tach???? The car had the early 82-83 long guage cluster wtf??? other than the dash and a cowl hood "recardo style" there was nothing special no t tops or ta gills on the fenders. Im tempted to get this cluster but some of the guages like gas and temp are swiched around and it might not fit. Whats the deal here was this a special package??? Im confused!

Are you sure it wasnt changed to a later one? I suspect it will fit, I dont think the actual locations or sizes of the gauges changed at all. IIRC the earlier ones are white letter with a red pointer (Its been a while since I had one of those), the later ones have a grid background and white letters with an orange pointer. Mine has the 140/8K combo in it, its an 86.

Heres my dash:

Yea it looks like, from your description to be a latter one. Dumb question though, I thought the dash changed to the small cluster in late 83 or was this a camaro only that changed to small cluster in 84 and not pontaic?
Thanks

What do you mean the small cluster. Camaros had the same basic cluster 82-89, and every firebird i ever saw has the long style where some of the guages are on the other damn side of the car.
