cold air induction

I am about to purchase a black and gold 1984 Trans Am. the ad says that it has the L69 HO motor, but when I saw under the hood, the dual snorkel air cleaner was not there. There is a big hole in the left side of the air cleaner facing up into the hood scoop though. Is this factory? Just wondering. In case you don't remember me, I used to be russ86T/A until 2 weeks ago, when the 86 was totaled in an accident.

Yea, that's the right unit for this car. Mine is exactly the same. The Camaros had the dual snorkel units, the T/A's had what you see on that car.
What you CAN do is put a dual snorkel airbowl under the lid with the hole in it, and respectively you'll have three air inlets between the snorkels and the hood louver. Seemed to give my car a little bit more grunt.
