i have a 92 heritage z28 and i have the original papers for it. it says it has the 1le driveshaft and the "performance" rear end. is it possible to have ordered just the drive shaft, or is my car the full 1le package?

Look for the 1LE code on the spid sheet in the locking glove box in the hatch. Also does your car have a/c. If so then it definately not a 1LE Z. The option code for the alum. driveshaft is JG1. Either way it sounds like a beautiful car. I recently sold my 91' 1LE. It was going to be a little to hot to drive in the Arizona summer.

it has a/c. it also has 4wheel disc brakes and duel cats. if i remember right it also has the engine oil cooler. even if it is not the full 1le package. is there any way to find out how many cars were exactly like mine without just knowing that there were somewhere around 3000 z/28 with 350's?

Sorry, not a 1LE but nice regardless.
Probably has the G92 option which gave you the 3:23 rear and upgrade suspension. A/C delete and G92 would have triggered the 1LE option. Probably has fog lights too I bet. No fog lights on 1LE cars.

Actually, You could have a "1LE" with AC except it wasn't the full race version. AC 1LE's were considered street vehicles, without AC, they were considered for the race series.

Here is the breakdown:

1. With AC it included engine oil cooler (KC4), 4-wheel discs (J65) and dual converter exhaust (N10). This 1LE option cost $466 in 1992

2. Without AC, it added heavy duty front brakes, aluminum driveshaft and spare wheel, special shocks and fuel pickup, and gas tank baffle. This 1LE option cost $675 in 1992. Also fog lamps were deleted

I always thought all 1LE cmaros were without AC until I saw one here in Austin about 3 years ago. I looked at the codes and it was a "1LE" with AC.

I know some do not consider these AC equipped 1LE camaros not real "1LE's", but in my opinion, I do.

Actually, there were only 705 1LE's built (with or without AC), so your car is rare.

There were actually 3,038 350 engines put in camaros in 1992 so you could probably get that half of the 1LE's (about 352) have the 350 engine with their 1LE.

Hope this helps!!!

Manny

Manny, If it had A/C it was not considered a 1LE car. The two packages you talk of were the G92 performance axle packages. They were available two ways. G92 w/ C60 air for the $466 and G92 w/ C41 A/C delete(aka 1LE) for $675. Both G92's had heavy duty cooling and dual converter exhaust. The only true race 1LE that I know of that had A/C from the factory is a 91/92 Yellow Trans/Am or Formula on the 1LE.net website. You might try that site out also.

In 1992 all B4C's had the 1LE code but it was for the dual piston front brakes only. No aluminum driveshaft, etc.

Manny you are correct that his car is rare. I think all G92 Z28's from 1992 and 1991 will be someday. Even more so since his has the heritage package. Goodluck on the B4C search.

im sorry to keep asking so many questions. yes it does appear that the car has the g92 performance package with the a/c. the invoice also says that it has the aluminum driveshaft. is this possible? also, does anyone know how many cars had this package? or how many had the heritage package and the G92 package?

It is possible to have the aliminum driveshaft; it could have been ordered as an added option.

As for the exact numbers, it is hard to tell how G92 with the heritage package. chevy does not have, I believe a breakdown on how many purple z28's with the heritage option and the G92 performance axle were produced.

I assume that there are probably only a few 92 z28's with your options.

Hold onto it for a few more years!!

To prove to yourself on the Aluminum driveshaft, look at the spid label for the 3 digit code "JG1". That is the code for the aluminum driveshaft. I would have to say the value of the car has to greater than $10,000. How much above that depends on the buyers market. My friend purchased that B4C w/ leather with only 7500 miles for $12k. Well worth it.

92heritagez,

Keep it stock!!! Alot of potential buyers like cars stock.

Look at all the first generation camaros getting high prices on original options!!

p.haze92,

It is awesome your friend got the 92 b4c for 12K.

How long ago did he get that? The reason I ask is that I am just now ready to buy a low mileage B4C!!!

I am searching high and low for "MY B4C"

Thanks!!!

Manny, I will keep you in mind when I run across other low mileage B4C's that were not in service. He bought that car last year. That red 5spd on ebay looks like a regular Z28(I dont know why they are advertising police package). There was a purple haze B4C with less than 3000 miles on collector car trader online but was asking a rediculous $20k plus. Just a little high I think. I am collecting as much stuff on B4C's as possible like brochures, and B4C's camaro's as well. I have had and sold a bunch of them. From here on I intend on keeping as many as possible. My current B4C is a 92' DGGM w/ black interior B4C from the FBI out of Denver. I bought it at 80534 original miles. Fully loaded except leather and power mirrors and seat. Email me directly at adtke@msn.com if you have any other B4C info or questions.
Later,
Aaron

Aaron,

I have always wanted a 92 B4C, now I will be searching high and low for one.

I picked up a 92 sales brochure about 4 years ago.

As for non police service ones, a guy in Canada had one for about 6 months in Hemmings.

He originally bought the car in Georgia. It had 8k miles and all options except the leather and I believe the power seat. It was the 350.

That was 3 years ago when he had it.

There was another black 350 with I beleive 9k miles in Chicago for awhile that was also advertised in Hemmings. That was about 2 years ago if I remember correctly.

I really do appreciate you keeping an eye out for a B4C for me.

I just got an email from another guy you might sell his 91 B4C with the 350. I told him to email me all the info on the car.

For me, I am leaning towards the 92 over the 91 for 3 reasons:

1. It is the last year of the 3rd gen
2. It was the "25th" anniversary of the Camaro
3. It came with the 1LE calipers.

Thanks and help the above info helps on documenting the 91 and 92 B4C's

Manny

Hey all,
Just to add my two cents...

I think when it comes to 1LE cars people are making it harder than it should be to figure out if they have one or not. If your car does not have the RPO 1LE on the spi label, then there is no way that it could be a 1LE.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 1LE RPO code was for just the large brakes.

Ok, since many B4Cs have rpo 1LE, does it make them 1LEs? I don't think so, becuase what most people know as a 1LE, has nothing to do with a B4C. A B4C is a police package camaro, no other camaro shares that RPO code. 1LE is a RPO for the large brakes which is associated with the showroom stock racing class version of the camaro, but shares that RPO with many B4Cs.

Are we all confused yet?

Also, those high production numbers in 91 and 92 for 1LEs... Those include the B4Cs that came with the RPO 1LE. Those numbers are nothing more than RPO searches. So, when you search for RPO 1LE, every car that has 1LE on the SPI label will come up.

I paid 10.2K for my 92 B4C with 67k miles on it. Civilian car, fully loaded.

Later.
John
