Ill take a stab at it, exact numbers I dont have but I read this for 91 / 92 ....

Required with the 5.7 liter V-8 and 5.0 liter 225 hp TPI V-8 was the GU6 Performance Enhancement Group. It included the N10 dual converter exhaust system, four-wheel disc brakes, engine oil cooler and performance axle ratio.

No, they did not all have 4-wheel disc brakes. I'm fairly certain that all the 5.7L and G92 5.0L cars did have them, but some "regular" 5.0Ls did not.

I do not have breakdowns for the Trans Ams, but the GTAs were as follows:

1991

J41 - Brakes, Power FR Disc, RR Drum (Cast Iron) - 62
J42 - Brakes, Power FR Disc, RR Drum (Aluminum) - 829
J65 - Brakes, Power FR Disc, RR Disc - 1,144

1992

J41 - Brakes, Power FR Disc, RR Drum (Cast Iron) - 1
J42 - Brakes, Power FR Disc, RR Drum (Aluminum) - 51
J65 - Brakes Power FR Disc, RR Disc - 174

Hope this helps clarify the point a little bit.....

Mine has 4-Wheel discs.....and it isn't a G92....but it is a 5Speed with R6P.

Also Chaotic, the RPO for 4-Wheel discs is J65.

I have a 5.7 1991 GTA and I have aluminum rear drums. GM was having problems with the rear disks when they switched to the 10 bolt which caused a shortage.

So many cars that SHOULD have had 4 wheel disks according to ALL the literature, may have gotten rear drums (usually aluminum) instead.

For GTA's only: (As mentioned in this thread all 92 Trans Ams with 350 or 305 G92 & 5 Speed probably had the rear discs).

In 1990 673 cars received J65 front and rear discs. 595 were 350 cars with 3:23 and 78 were 305 cars with 3:42 and 5 speed.
It appears as though all 211 305 auto cars came with 2:73 gears and rear drums.

In 1992 173 or 174 cars received J65 front and rear discs. 144 were 350 cars with 3:23 and 29 were 305 cars with 3:42 and 5 speed.
There may have been 1 305 auto car built with 4 wheel discs. It appears as though all but possibly one of the 53 305 auto cars came with 2:73 gears and rear drums.

In 1991 It is more difficult to compute which cars came with discs/drums because rear discs were unavailable for a few months during the year.

If anyone is interested, I was just checking out a 91 GTA with drum brake rear for sale on ebay and the seller also had a photo of the original window sticker. It clearly shows a credit of $179 to the original buyer because it was built without the rear disc brakes. So at least GM wasn't trying to hide anything by charging for standard equipment that wasn't originally on the car.
