Is this uncommon??
Morning All,
I just picked up an 85 Iroc project last week in pretty rough shape. It has some things I have not really seen on many Iroc's
* It has a quartz clock in the console (never seen this)
* 3.42 Posi Rear End
* Radio Delete - which includes solid plastic sail panels. (never seen this)
* High Back Vinyl Seats
* Manual Windows and Locks
Is this uncommon, is it rare but nor necessarily valuable. Is it worth keeping somewhat original. I bought it with the intent of modifying the hell out of it. But do not want to ruin it if it is uncommon.
Any suggestions?

Uncommon yes, rare? not really, worth anything? probably not. Mod it to your hearts content. If you're concerned about it being worth more in original condition, just keep all the original parts and don't cut anything and you can always switch it back.

You got what's known as a "stripper". The console clock is there because of the radio delete option.

Jim,
Is this odd for an 85 Iroc or was it common in 85?

I'd say it's odd, but like drew said, it's not going to make it desirable, so therefore there won't be any sort of added value. If anything, a stripper will hurt value.
Rare doesn't always equal valuable. An original unrestored mint condition chevette is very, very rare and not worth a damn.
Anyway, what I'm getting at is just do what you want with it. If you want to mod it, go for it! Don't worry about maintaining it's originality for the sake of it's uniqueness unless that's what you really want to do.
