OK....just how many 1991 GTA's were actually made???
I keep seeing diffeent numbers for the total of 91 GTA's made(305 and 350 engines). For the longest time I thought it was 2,026. I just received my packet from PHS and they say there 2,915 made. Does anyone know which number is correct?
Also, does anyone know the amount of 305 vs. 350 GTA's made in that year?

I believe the 2,026 is the number available for the US and the 2,915 is the total number made and available for the world.
I had enquired into this a few years ago and I was told that 463 GTA's made it to Canada and that they were not included in the 2,026. I suspect that PHS has updated its number to reflect the world number.

Yes, 2,915 is the correct TOTAL worldwide number from what I can tell too.
I'm still trying to figure out exactly how many 1992 Trans Am GTA's were made, is it 226 or 508? I'm thinking 226 were U.S. cars and 508 is the total number but that would be an extremly high export number. Also it's been said that 92 GTA's weren't made for export but I have seen them and they do have the correct RPO codes to be factory built for export. Case in point, 1992 GTA VIN # 1G2FW2388NL208319 This was a factory built for export to Canada, it's an Artic White L98 car with Grey leather owned by a guy named Sean. I know of others that went to Europe too.....

What are the sequence number (the last six digits) of your VINs? I'm trying to find out if mine was the first (or one of the first) GTA's built of the '91-'92 body style. It was built on 02 March 1990. The sequence number is 201230.

This is one dilemma that is nowhere near being resolved.....
Glenn sounds like he may be onto something here. The last contact I had with PHS I was told that they had no numbers for GTAs (or other models) built for export... only US cars. There does, however, seem to be a sizable number of 1991 GTAs in Canada and overseas; I have received many queries from overseas owners. Maybe I need to get back with PHS and see if they have uncovered additional information...?
I cannot speak for any '92 GTAs that may have been built fpr sale in Canada, but the 1992 GM Firebird export brochure I have does not list the GTA as available for export sales... only the base Firebird and Trans Am were offered to overseas buyers. The GTA is not even mentioned in the brochure...
Either way, it seems that PMD's documentation is a muddled mess!

When I talked to GM Historical Services of Canada about my 1991 GTA, I also enquired into 1992s. There were 49 GTAs imported in 1992 and 25 TransAms/GTAs had the L98 (they can't seperate the 25 L98s between the TransAm and GTA individually, only total for both. I think there were 25 Formulas imported in 1992 also, but I am going off memory.

Hey Sean, what's up? Thanks for the correction man, I'll update your cars profile in my registry. I guess when I get 226 92 GTA's in my registry and I keep finding more, we'll know what the actual number is
Also, I found a new 92 with an even later sequence code of 227371. So for now this is the last GTA made. I think I also have what could be the first 92 GTA with a sequence code of only 200149. There are still many more to get so we will see

Sean, as I said, I was going off memory as I have lost the page that I recorded all the information regarding 1992s.
I do have the official numbers for 1991 though and found that page. In 1991, a total of 702 TransAms/GTAs were imported of which 463 where GTAs and 221 with the L98. Again, the 221 L98s were for BOTH the TransAm & GTA; no individual break down is available.
If you contact 1-888-467-6853 (toll free in Canada) or (905) 644-4060, you can contact GM Historical Services of Canada and they will give you the actual numbers for 1992.

Hey guys. Im in Switzerland at the moment. Just the other day I saw a 91 or 92 Trans am on the highway, but it had a GTA badge on the front. I saw it again at the gas station yesterday too but I didn have time to go ask about it. If I see the car again Ill check it out and ask about the car if the owner is around, and if they speak english for that matter. Im in Geneva if any one else is reading this in Europe. I miss my Notch, even in its decrepidness!

Glenn, I just talked to the Canadian GM folks at Vintage Services... super nice and friendly.
But you have to purchase a Canadian Documentation package in order to get access to the production numbers for a particular year. It seems that the total production numbers are included in the Canadian research package... a feature PHS doesn't offer us here in the US.
The cost is $45 Canadian, plus a 7% tax on the purchase.
So, no they will not give you just the production figures for Canadian GTAs. In order to find out the total number of GTAs sent to Canada, it will be necessary to have one Canadian-spec GTA researched for each model year...
Hmm... I think I feel another GTA Source Page contest coming on.....

Re: OK....just how many 1991 GTA's were actually made???
According to the Official Pontiac Logs, 2915 is the total number of GTA's made for the 1991 Model Year,
There 407 exported GTA's with the RPO "EXP", of those
128 GTA went to Gulf States,
51 GTA to Japan,
210 GTA to Saudi Ariabia
9 GTA to unregulated countries.
(I know it only = 394 which equals RPO V78 Statement of Export Compliance)
PLUS another 476 GTA's to Canada
There were 2522 GTA's that got a (US/Canada Statement (RPO V73), so even if you remove the 476 Canada GTAs, there was still 2046 sold in the USA, not 2026.
According to the Official Pontiac Production numbers there were 2035 GTAs sold in the USA Only.
Keep in mind that Production for 1990 was short, the last 1990 to roll off the line was December 31, 1989. In turn this made 1991 long, it went from February 1990 thru August 1991, I have seen where they broke out the production from Feb 1990 to August 1990 and included it in 1990 production.
All of this data is from the Official Pontiac Logs.
I hope this completely confuses all of you like it has me.
