B4C or Z28

Alright here is the deal. I have a 1991 Z28 305 auto with little mods. I may have a chance to get a 92 B4C They are both black I really love my Z's looks but it needs work. As does the B4C but I don't know how bad. My question is which would you rather have. Oh yeah my car books for more right because it is Z and the B4C is technically an RS, right?

Well, to me, it's a no brainer. Your Z28, since it's a 305/auto it's only rated a 205hp. (correct me if i'm worng) Only the 5speed 305 was rated at 235. You don't mention what engine is in the B4C, but I've never heard of a 305/auto B4C. So, either way, the increase in performance is huge. Other options you get... 105amp alternator, four wheel disc brakes, since the B4C is a 1992, you get the larger 1LE brakes up front. There are a lot less B4Cs in the world, 589 in 92. The B4C, is not technically a RS, by any strech of the imagination. I would get the B4C at all costs.

Another question what part of the 1le package would be in the B4C. Also would my insurance go up?

The 1LE in the B4C package includes only the larger front brakes.

As for insurance, it depends. If your insurnace company sees it as a "RS", then it will be cheaper than your 91z but I doubt that would happen. This is due to the insurance company rating the car according to the VIN. The VIN will show the B4C as a "z28" even though the body is an "RS".

If I had the opportunity to buy a low to moderate mileage 92 B4C (non police service), I would sell my 92 z28 immediately. I know that one of these days I will find a B4C that I really want and will have to either sell my current z or start saving up again so I can have both the z28 and B4C.

When I was looking for my camaro, the top of my list was a 92 B4C followed by the 88-92 1LE then followed by the 92 z28, which I eventually got.

If it is a police used one, be careful to fully check it out. Alot have high miles but most were properly maintained through the police fleet mechanics!!

Hope this helps!!!

Get the B4C hands down. It will be worth WAY more then any Z of 3rd gen status, because they are so reare, plus they only got G92 engines in them 230hp 5L and 245hp 5.7L. So get that B4C before someone else does, it is a hell of a car.

Honda engines ROCK, I have one on my lawn mower but I still have to push it.

My insurance co.required pics.of my car. Local agent sent them to the underwriter.Vin number says its a z28.Local agent sends more pics. than I got the lower rate.If you total the car they would pay you for a RS anyway because of the body.

Obviously, from my stand point, I like the B4C. I have seen a lot of B4Cs, some clean and nice, some were POS's that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. Right now I have a '91 B4C, loaded, black, pretty decent condition, 58k miles, 305, 5-speed. Everybody says they are desireable but they really aren't any different than a Z28. I paid way too much for it, and I'm still working on it, and sinking more money into it. I just put a Flowmaster cat-back on it. Next to come is a new clutch, toasted it with all that new added power from the exhaust, not. Anyways the Z28 is the same car sans the spoiler and Z28 emblems. I would have settled for a nice one, just didn't find one before the B4C. As for the insurance, most companies will list it as a Z28 just because of the F or 8 as the 8th digit in the VIN. Just depends on the insurance company.

I have a little background on the car but I haven't seen it yet. The car has around 100K it is a 350 auto. It is one of 2 B4C's used by the police here. Both were black one had t-tops(heard this from a friend of the previous owner who is not selling the car). This one is obviously not t-topped. And it was supposed to have been taken very well care of. If I pass on this car I will let all you guys who want one like it know all about it and the price.

Is this the same car mentioned on the KY Fbodies.org site?

If so, doesn't the post say something about the engine and/or the tranny being changed somewhere around 1994?

Would that affect the value?

It does state it is a fairly rough high mile car. I would think long and hard about it, especially after looking at it.
