GM Delco Cd Players???

I've been looking for a stock replacement to that stupid cassette deck I've got. I was told the newer GM Delco replacements won't hook up to our old ones. So my question is, what years or Camaros, or better yet for that matter, was their ever an CD Player in our cars? I would imagine between 91-92.

Cuase I'd really like to know what to look for.

There was a CD player installed but they are kinda rare and also they don't work very well I think. I did a search a while back on copartfinder.com and found one. I think they charge money to search so I would just post in the classifides or look around in bone yards. I also think 89 was the first year for them. The GTA's got it then but no steering wheel controls.

Both my 90-92 CD players work great. I also have a 97 T/A cd player in my wifes 89 RS ZZ4TPI. Hooked right up using stock harness.

The newer GM stereo will fit. All you need to do is get a harness that converts the old style plug into the back of a new radio. I bought the harness for $20 and installed a 98 Tahoe stereo into my 86 442. It was cake and I didn't even molest the factory harness.

Anybody care to tell me where I can find one of those harnesses? I have an '00 Z28 Monsoon CD system I've been trying to hook up...but I don't have the connector and the original is gone. Thanks

93' camaros had the yellow lettering to if you want it to match the rest of the lettering in the car. My car came stock with one and it works perfect.

I'm skeptical towards older CD players, as they had lower frequency lasers and were prone to skipping, if not used for 10 years, I guess they would work well now, but not for daily use... I would search for a newer replacement from '97 on... you can probably get a harness to convert from your local car stereo place... I'm sure that part can be ordered if not in stock. You could also try to identify the different wires and just splice...

Best solution is just to get a real CD player and bite the "stock looking" bullet.

I contacted a local automotive supply. They supply the radio shacks and custom audio shops with the wiring harnesses. I can't remember the brand, but any stereo company that has harnesses sells the brand. You can ask to see a catalog or contact the company direct. I will try to get the part number and post it.

Also, the monsoon system listed above probably won't work. The reason is because the Monsoon setup is like the Bose. Each speaker is amplified. Unless you have the entire setup, the monsoon won't work with regular speakers.
