T-Top Headliner ?

I saw a Bird in a towing yard today so I stopped to check it out. The owner would not part it but I took a look at it, around the top of the headliner was a plastic moulding that was contoured with all the inner curves and I have never seen this before. Is this factory or something somebody installed?

did the t tops look different to you. from the sounds of it they are prolly c&c t tops. they were t tops installed by an aftermarket company called cars and concepts. the main noticable difference will be the front windshield frame. the top part will be about twise as wide as stock. hope this helps.

Hawks sells it. But it wont fit factory t top camaros. Personally i think C&C is better than factory tops becasue they dont leak like the factory ones.

However the factory tops have a nicer apearance. So its a 50/50 Looks or practicality.

Hope this helps ... oh ya.. and a site called sunroofdoctor has C&C stuff too.

Thanks for replying,
The reason I asked is because the bonehead who redid my t-top headlined didn't pull the material all the way over the top lip and when I take my t-tops of it is ugly as H E double hockey sticks. I was looking for something to cover his awful mistakes all the way around the top where the headliner meets the roof, any suggestions?

this has to be on the inside of the car correct??? still don't get what the diff is though, b/c the winshield frame is covered by the headliner, and looking at pics of Daytona pace cars the windshiedl frame doesn't look any diff than on my other birds.

C&C tops are shorter than the factory ones so there is more body between the winshield and the tops. C&C took factory hardtop cars from dealers and made them into t top cars. The headliner is just an hartop one cut to fit, with the hardtop visors and all of the seals are totally different. I will get some pics of mine up tonight so you can see.

Here are some pics.
here are the easy ways to tell if it is C&C
1.there will be a C&C sticker in the glovebox
2. there will be C&C emblems on the glass tops
3. they are shorter than the factory tops and there is a larger gap between the windshield and the tops.
4. has hartop visors
5. there will be a strap bolted in the hatch to stow the tops.
6.there will be a trim lip infront and behind the t tops [ almost looks like body side molding]
7. there will not be an overhead console [ the t top bar doesnt have the holes like the factory ones. I had to drill them out and cut my headliner to get mine in]

As for the trim IronDuke, i dont know where to find it. I would like to get some more myself but i cant find it anywhere. Maybe a trim shop will have it or something.

I found my answer, I just picked up an 89 RS with the C&C tops and was wondering if anyone had installed an overhead console I suppose you used the hardtop console?

Re: T-Top Headliner ?

I had an '84 Z28 that was 100% stock. It had c&c tops and the overhead console that I assume was reinstalled during the conversion.

Now I know the consoles are different, I was looking at my headliner today and it would seem that a t-top console would have to go there because it is flat instead of curved

Hehe.

I don't remember exactly what it looked like behind the headliner on my car, but I do remember that the car had a hardtop console and it fit well when it was installed. The console is now in a '92 RS hardtop.

After looking at my setup, there is no way a hard top console would line up, the headliner is flat like a factory t-top

Re: T-Top Headliner ?

Ok this might help you out a little bit better...
When I bought my car my headliner was disintegrating. It needed to be replaced badly. At the time, I was not aware that I had c&c t-tops, so I bought a t-top specific abs headliner from a company called ez soft tops (found them on ebay.) When I went to install the headliner, surprise suprise... it did not fit at all. After posting this question on here, and asking the company, I discovered that I had the C&C tops. I was told that the way cars and concepts did these installs involved removing the factory (hardtop) headliner, cutting out the openings for the t-tops, installing the headliner back into the car, and then re-covering it, wrapping the excess cloth around the lips surrounding the t-tops. SO, my assumption would be that the console you need would be the hardtop version, as an actual hardtop headliner is being used.

Re: T-Top Headliner ?

Yes, you have a very valid point. I just redid my headliner though and there is no curve to it Well I have a t-top console on the way so if I can't make it work I guess I am SOL Thanks for the replay as it makes total sense, I will post pics once I get it.
