semi rare formula?
Would a 1989 Black Formula 5pd no t-top with 305 TPI WS6 and 3.45 9 bolt be considered rare?I know it was hard to find"took 1 year" and had it shipped from another state
Nope. There might not be that many around anymore but it's not "Rare" by any means.....

The formula from 87-92 was available with various engines. In 87 the base engine was the LG4, optional were the LB9 and L98. For 88-92 the base engine changed to the L03, the LB9 and L98 remained the same. L03 Formula's grow on tree's, they're all over the place.
As for the original post, the car may or may not be rare. Again since GM didn't keep track of option combinations its possible for a car to be one of a kind and we wouldn't know. Regardless with the high production numbers of these cars none of them are really rare.

It is my understanding that WS6 was on all Formulas, so this isn't really an added bonus... I really don't know how you can call a car "formula" with an L03, but I've seen it myself LOL it is really funny in fact.
BTW the 5 speed/305 TPI combination is probably the most rare tranny/engine combo for that year... you can take comfort in that.

Hey dropkeel,
I have basically the same car as you (except color). They may not be "rare" by most definitions, but I've never seen another one like it. If you do find a TPI/5-speed, odds are that it will have T-Tops too. Like you, I specifically wanted an '89 Formula with the TPI/T-5/No Tops combo. I got lucky and found a decent, 83k mi original car about 45 minutes from my front door. Don't mean to make you sick, but I found it after searching on autotrader.com in the classic section for about 5 minutes. It wasn't listed in the standard used car section so I guess it was kind of "hidden".
Good luck with your car.
