I have been in alot of cars, the only way I have ever seen the panels is with the hooks and then the single screw to retain them at the top that seconds as the clothes hook.

my 83 and my 91 both used the hooks

THis looks like someones aftermarket "Better Idea"

There is a part # on these and I did a search and came up with this
http://www.aius.net/ai2005appguide_sos1.pdf seems as though they are GM Camaro parts, but from what car? The part # is RSK 82 CF and you will see it on page 6 of the link I gave?

Far as I know, none ever came carpeted... let alone with those mounts. Must be someone else's 'improvements'

Probably because they were plain old sail panels with GM numbers and someone recovered them...?

You say you got the in the mail..... but from where ? Have you asked the sender where they came from ? (That might shed some light on the matter )

I've never heard of carpeted sail panels... All the ones I've ever seen have the same fabric as the headliner.. FWIW, my panels mount the same way as okfoz's panels.

Very strange... If you find out, let us know.

HAte to be the bearer of Bad news, but "part # is RSK 82 CF" is not a GM Part number, GM part numbers for the past 20 years have been 8 numbers...

I would think
RSK = the manufacturer
82 = THe year
CF = Camaro/Firebird

I bought them from a guy on here, I will shoot him a PM and see what he has to say about where they came from.
