NOW IM PISSED! CANT JACK UP REAR END!!! HELP NEEDED ASAP!!!

ok, heres the deal, i need to get to get my car up in the air... i will post pics of what i have so far... first of all, all the manuals i have suck! they say jack the car up on the side underneath the door, where the seams underneath are welded, WRONG!!!! got a few inches and it bent....after a weekend of work i finally got the front up and put stands under the front frame rails ( hope im right... pic will be posted soon...) tried the rear but kept hearing popping and wierd noises so i stopped. went bk to the manuals.. useless.... cld a fried, no good.. so i got a diagram from this website which is very good, said to jack rear up by rear diff or suspension. problem is, when i get too high it starts to pop and the stand wont fit any where cuz the rear sway bar and other stuff are in the way..... so, i need help cuz i dont want my car to fall on me or flex or lean to one side... i need everyone whos done this to post pic (plz!) and advice....

I jack mine in the front right where you did but put the stands behind the wheels on the frame rail itself, not where the fender bolts or a welded seam. On the rear I jack from the center of the diff(even on my 9") and once again, the stands go on the frame right where the LCA's attach at the front. Never had a problem and they all settle and make a noise here and there. Maybe it's some of that rust coming loose!!

Agreeed. Just pop the jack on the pumpkin and jack it up there. Put jack stands on the pumpkin tubes or the LCA mounts.

i would put the front stands under the a-arms in the front instead of on the small piece of subframe that you have them on. and for the rear i either put them on the subframe in front of where the lca connects to the car or on the rear axle tubes. the sway bar shouldnt be in the way as you can slide the stands forward then pull them back and the Y in the stand will be seated in the tube.

Listen, use quality ramps instead of stands. Drive the front of the car up on ramps, then put the jack under the rear differential housing and jack it up, then place two more ramps under the rear wheels and youll have all 4 wheels off the ground.

if you can't drive the car up on the front ramps then put the jack under the engine crossmember, dead smack in the middle, and jack the front up until you can slide the ramps under the front tires. This is what I do every time I change my oil.

unless you have aftermarket four-link or ladder bars you DO have control arms......... if you don't know what your rear control arms look like this might not be a good thing for you to do. Don't mean to be blunt but even my hotrod has lower arms(actually they are the ONLY arms on the rearend other than the torque arm.)

the control arms are connected to the rearend just to the front and inside of the rear tires. They are probably 20" or so in length and attach to the frame in the front and to the rearend at the back. They run lengthwise with the car, not sideways like the sway bar or panhard/track locator. To give you a hint as to where the front mount is, find your fuel filter and look just aft and outside of that part of the frame. You should see the left forward mount for the bars right there.

AHHHHHHH, you're killin' me!!! Jack from the center of the rearend(my big three ton jack fits, that small one you have should as well). Put the jackstands under the car(the frame, not the rearend housing) where the control arms go in to the boxes they're bolted to. It's a good, strong point back there to support the car and it gives you plenty of room to work under the back as well.

this is as good as i can find. green is your jacking point, yellow is optional places to put your jack stands. the two outer places give you the most room to work on the car.

this is redraif's car just to give a shoutout to the owner.

lol

Doesnt anybody just buy a 6ft piece of 2*12 and cut it down into 2 pieces and chamfer the ends?

Great quickie ramp thats tall enough to let u get a jack under the frt crossmember on stock and EIbach'ed(one inch) cars.

later

or if your big enough like myself you can just lift the front of the car high enough to unsettle the suspension and slide the jack under nice and easy

I usually put my jackstands further out on the axle, they tuck neatly between the sway bar mount and the shock mount. They do take a little maneuvering but they get in there.

And the front, I either stick my jackstands under the sway bar mounts or under the control arms, depending on what I'm working on. And I leave my jack touching the engine cradle crossmember when possible for a little extra security.
