Jake's Mega Huge Restoration Thread With Pics!
Well where to begin, I bought my car last summer for $2500 bucks. Great shape...kinda. The engine is a fresh rebuilt 350, the interior is clean except for the roofliner, and the body was straight. It was original paint so it was looking pretty faded but ok for last summer. First thing I did was replace the old no-name tires "cobra radials"! because they were balding. I put huge meats on and gave it a really tough stance.
Now for this summer. I was at school for 9 months and couldn't touch my car
So I took to the boards and learned as much as I could about my car. I bought a new front end, air dam, side skirts, and rear bumper from a 91 RS because I like the style more and my old ones werewarped and cracked. I got back from school and tore into my car with a DA sander. Now I've spending my days with bondo and a block sander fixing door dings and small dents. Man this is a big project.
Just thought I'd share so you can all share in the process :P

what kind of sander you using? an electric? got a brand of p/n? I saw it on your hood there.
Looks good so far. Any rust to deal with? Re-doing weatherstripping at all?

it is going to look awsome when it is done. jake is going to paint it black with white stripes. not the most original color plan ever, but a classic never goes out of style
i know what a PITA sanding can be. i did this hood for my white bird a year ago. even once i was done it looked like crap. i gave up and chucked it. it looked good from far away, but up close it looked lake garbage. eventualy i will find one at the junkyard in good shape.
