1990-1992 Gauge Question

I was pondering across eBay and came across a car that had this gauge cluster in it:

I have came across many third gens in my life, but I have NEVER seen an oil gauge like that. In my 1990 RS and in every other car I came across, it shows the oil pressure with the 0, 30, and 60 or whatever it was on it.

My question I guess is: this was a v6 Camaro. Did they only come in those? Is it the same thing as an oil pressure gauge but "dumbed" down for a more common user, or is it an actual oil level indicator?

The orange needles give it away as a 92.

Well, to ask my other question; is it just an oil pressure sensor in disguise or is it really an oil LEVEL sensor?

i have a 1991 V6 and my oil pressure gauge is normal and not like this one. it might have been a 1992 V6 thing

IMO I think it was a retarded move. Although the oil pressure will be slightly different when comparing a v6 to a v8. In my 92 RS with the v6 option the oil gauge "acts" just the same as my 90 Iroc 305. What gets me is that they dummied that guage and that guage only. Why not dummy them all? BTW, a few years back on another forum a guy took a 145 speedo out of a 92 Z28 and put it in his V-6 RS same year. Said it worked the same.

Just my 2 cents
