I had a 79 firebird formula before I bought my 89 IROC... did the same thing. Burned to the ground. It's not a good feeling sitting there watching your pride and joy burn like that. The engine was just re-done, over 1200 bucks into it, less than 500 miles.
Here's what it looked like after the fire... my girlfriend and I were both in the car when I noticed some flames, and told her to get out, the car was still rolling, I heard an explosion, and it just went up in flames.

Looks to me like the something went wrong with the distributor/coils and it sparked something and caught the rest of the car on fire.

thats awfull very sorry to hear it. its really to bad not only did you baby go up in flames but these insurance companies wont give you back everything you put into the car. i dont know about you guys but i already have alot invested into my car. the insurance company wouldnt pay me extra for having a new headliner or the suspension work i have done. all they do it look at the age its not fair
. just becuase something is old doesnt mean its junk. some cheese-ball with a brand new car is more likely to get more of the invested money back out of the wreck. i hope it never happens to me becuase my car is priceless to me, its my peice of fbody history. could you share with us what cause these two awful fires?
