Is it a rare bird ???

Ok I got a line on a car today that I'm going to look at this weekend I'm trying to find out some info before I go. The car is a 82-84 T/A Mishem or Mishler or something to that effect( I've been talking with the guys friend) He said all the guages have that name on them and there is a plaque in the car with whatever number out of so many cars. He said it had a whale tail spoiler and some kind of straps that connect the rear axle to body or something like that. He says its a running driving car all original in need of some work. but like I said I'm not sure exactly what he is talking about. So if anyone has any info please let me know.

I'll snap some pictures when I go look at it. Haven't seen it yet. It was one of those things that just came about. I'm supposed to hook up with the owner Sat morning. The guy is in some financial trouble and needs cash. I guess he has been working on restoring it for the last couple years. So I'm hoping I can work a quick deal(before he changes his mind) I'll keep everyone posted. after this weekend I might need to add on to my garage as that is where I might be sleeping after I drag another car home. lol

It is a Motor Sports Edition T/A produced my Mecham Racing in Glendale, AZ from 1982-1985. I happen to have an 84 MSE. They are very rare cars, and any missing parts aside from a decal kit will be next to impossible to find. They were made with everything from stock drivetrains with appearance and suspension upgrades, to being equipped with 406's, Doug Nash 5-speeds, Recaro seats, Talon suspension, etc. I happen to be fortunate enough to live 3 miles from Dennis Mecham. So make sure everything is there. I do have quite a stockpile of MSE parts if you do buy it and are in need of something. But lets see some pics of it, Ill be able to tell you whats up.

Ok I actually talked to the owner today. I will be going tomorrow afternoon with my camera. From what he said it is a 84 #31 out of 50 It is black and silver T-top car with the 305 ho and auto trans. He has the original motor for it but his wife had blew one of the hoses and overheated it till it locked up. But he put another motor in from a 84 trans am. He stated that the bottoms of the doors were rusty but the rest of the car was decent. His asking price is $2500. Is this a decent price? What specific items do I need to look for that would be hard to find to replce? Thanks guys.

Spoiler, steering wheel, MR speedo and tach, Recaro seats if its an MSE-"R", more than likely should have the 15X7 N24 wheels, console plaque, map pouch emblem, MR hood emblem, etc. Pretty much any MSE specific part with the exception of the wheels will be extremely hard to find. Like I said though, try to snap some pics of it, and if you end up getting it, I have a pretty good stockpile of MSE parts...including 5 spoilers, 2 full decal sets, and some small misc stuff. But if most or all of that stuff is still there...it is well worth the asking price.

Here are the last three. The underside was rusty. The strut towers were rotted out. I could see holes in the rear wheel house. The car has been sitting in his back yard for a few years. I'm pretty sure this thing would make Chip Foose retire. lol

It's definatly rough. but not completly lost. Try and work him down on the price and you'll have a great project car. especially if 84L69TA can hook you up with the things you'll be needing. it'd be a shame to see it go to waste.

Definitely looks like it has been let go a bit, and like a couple parts are missing (like the whale tail).

If the price is right, though, scoop it up. You don't see them that often.

Keep us posted.

The second picture in the last group is the whale tale. I'm in Stark county about 20 min from Massillon. The car is in Barberton. He seemed pretty firm on his price of 2500. He kept talking how rare it is. The whole strut tower issue has me worried. although I know where I can pick up a 83 pace car to use as a parts car that all in all is pretty solid.

I wouldn'twant to pay 2500 for it. but if you talk him down as much as possible. he is right, it's a ver rare car.

I say the car is very "iffy" at best. Then only worth about $1000 if it's real. If it has the strap limiters on the rear, it should also have all poly suspension bushings and Koni red adj. shocks. If it does not, it could just be a plain '84 that someone put MSE stuff on. The paint scheme and graphics are wrong, I mean totally wrong. The lettering is nowhere near close, and the pinstriping that divides the two colors is wrong also.
