The console clock(RPO-U35)is an uncommon option that was available in '82(14,166),'83(1,992),84(1,840)and '85(809).The production numbers are from the "Camaro Whitebook" and is for all models. It states the clock was standard in Z28('82-'84)and Berlinetta('82-'83)but was deleted if a digital radio was ordered. But since it was on the option list you could still order it or it wasn't deleted("Whitebook" is off on some of it's info). My '83 has it and I've seen a couple more in person that had it(I've seen a few in pictures).I'm guessing with the more common use of the digital radios with clock and the low number of console clocks ordered Chevy discontinued it.But the console top cover mold wasn't changed. If you look at the bottom of a top cover(at leat thru '90)you'll find the 3 mounting post for the clock. The clocks have a bad reputation even though they are quartz movements.I'm guessing where they are mounted didn't help.I can attest to that possibility as I cracked my Z's original one when I leaned on it doing another repair.

Well by COOLRAM62's numbers 1,840 cars only had them seems on the rare side to me when there was 261,591 cars that year

I have one of the 809 in my 85 IROC (AM radios didn't have a digital clock apparently). Before I replaced mine, I removed it, shot it clean with canned air, then drenched the clock works in WD-40. It's been keeping time quite nicely for several years.

Somewhere along the line I read that someone thought it'd be more like the cockpit of a jet fighter with a clock stabbed in the middle of the console. I've seen a couple of them in person.

I think the console clock is one of the cooler options available for camaro.I installed one in my 86 iroc and 89 iroc vert.It gets quite a bit of attention at car shows as most people have never seen or heard of them.I also have about 10 more clocks packed away in a box

Not rare enough IMO... makes an otherwise "state of the art" car, for its time, unexpectedly include a relic from the Stone Age. About like "restoring" a Model T and putting in an in-dash hard-drive music player with GPS. Mismatch.

I thought they were cool until I found out that only cars with base model pushbutton radios without digital displays came with them. Same deal with 1981-82 Corvettes, and B-Body cars of that era. The 1981-82 Corvettes got an oil temp gauge in place of the clock if they had the digital stereo.
