Re: Vin HELP

The VIN won't tell you whether it's a Z28 or IROC.The fifth digit P means it could be either a Sport Coupe or Z28(or IROC with RPO-B4Z).If it were a S it would be a Berlinetta. The next thing is the eighth digit, for engine code, which is H in your car. That means she has the LG4 305 4BBL.You need to look on the console lid for SPID decal for the options on your car.Make sure the VIN on the decal matches your Camaro's VIN.Look for option code B4Z which is the IROC package.Z28 will also be on the list I believe.
Also look on the driver's door for the tire decal. In '86 the IROC(B4Z)package was the only way to get 16" wheels(tire size 245/50-16).Again the VIN on the decal should match your car.The IROC also came with the wonderbar(steering brace)o the fron mounted just in front of the stabilizer bar.
Check the TGO home page for more info and look at this site http://www.iroc-z.com for more info.

Please do not use iroc-z.com as a resource for accurate info. Their is too much incorrect information on that website and the owner is unwilling to fix them. The best reference for this info is obviously this forum, camarosource.com and iroczone.com. The message forums on the other sites can't compare to what's on TGO, but resources of data are great for reference. Jims85IROC can tell lots of stories about iroc-z.com

Re: Vin HELP

I apologize for that Scott as I wasn't aware of the incorrect info on that site.I've looked at it several times but apparently not close enough.I generally reference TGO first then Camarosource.com,the "Camaro Whitebook"(although I know it's not 100% accurate) and a couple other sources.

Re: Vin HELP

No need to apologize. I too have used info from his site, but I know what I'm looking for. He has the paint code for 87 Dark Red incorrectly listed and I informed him of that many times and he refuses to change it. His site has printed material you might not find anywhere else. You can't screw up a scanned image. If you use the site, be sure to cross reference any info to another site for verification on accuracy.
