1983 T/A Code help

Hey, I need help decoding the tag with codes in front of the rad. shroud. I am to understand F-bodies didnt come with RPO build sheets from 82-83. I tried decoding some of it with the TGO decoder, but didnt get all the sequence of numbers decoded. The numbers followed are as they appeared on the tag.

64C 19L 19U 55M E

AR9 C C1

WS4 D80

Thanks for any helps, links and info

64=Med. Doeskin/Dk. Doeskin cloth interior
19U/19L= Upper/Lower body color (Black)
55M I think should be 65M which would be your accent color (Goldwing Metallic)
Do you have a black and gold TA? 55 Doesn't show up as a color code
E=Enamel Paint

AR9=Reclining bucket seats
CC1=Hatch Roof
WS4=Trans AM
D80=Decklid Spoiler

If you want your RPO codes you will have to find your build sheet. Mine was under my seat. I'd check there first. If not there it could pretty much be anywhere in the car our even under the gas tank. Also, not all cars had them, as GM workers were not required to put them in the car. Usually they did though. Good luck finding, they have a lot of information on them!

For the first line of the body identification tag...

D = year builit = 1983, this is also the 10th digit of the VIN
11 = month built = November
B = 2 week of month, so car was built the 2nd week of November 1983

2 = Pontiac, 1 = Chevorlet
F= f body type
the 5 you have should be an S which is the Camaro Berlinetta or the Pontiac equavlient

87 = body type = coupe 2 door hardtop

N = Assembly Plant = Norwood, OH Plant

205256 = plant sequencal number, also the last six digits of your VIN

As 1982TA mentioned, you will have to find your build sheet or the window sticker to find most of your RPO codes. Some can be deduced by looking at the car and seeing what options are on it. You also can get a good idea of the RPO options you might have by ing this forum for "build sheet" and seeing what other posted. There is a thread with a1983 T/A build sheet here at this link. This thread is about 2-3 weeks old, if that. It will also have some informtion on the body identification tag.

Re: 1983 T/A Code help

On the last line the;

007325 is the Job Sequence Number

254178 is the Schedule Number Data (some internal date coding)

The 205256 is the last six of the VIN as stated by 82CrossFire Z28 but the Job Sequence Number is on the last line. Also note that cars build in Van Nuys don’t have a Job Sequence Number, they have some combo of DBWNS.

Wildjeff does that plant sequence code on the last line not being there go for Van Nuys Camaros(Z28 in particular)as for Firebirds?As I mentioned in 1982TA's post on his '82 T/A's build sheet my Van Nuys built '83 Z28's trim tag has D S 161609 on the last line.

Yes, both Camaro and Firebirds built at Van Nuys will have some combo of DBWNS. What I’m not sure about is if the Camaro bodies and the Firebird bodies share a Job seq. number or not. For example can a Firebird and a Camaro built at the same plant both have 007325? I suspect not since the number is used by the plant and there was just one line. But I do believe you could have a Norwood built car and a Van Nuys built car with the same job seq number.

Hey Jim, couldn't help to see you need some help.
The 82-83s did have build sheets.
Heres mine and I only hope it helps answer some questions when it comes to your car.

I'd love to see some pictures of yours, sometime!
