Formula decal placement

I bought my car sans decals. Feeling it needed them I ordered a set from Phoenix Graphics.

What I need to know is the exact placement for the FORMULA 350 door decals and the FORMULA decals on the front a rear bumpers.

I think I will leave the sail panel and nose birds off.

So if you can tell me and post some big pics I would appreciate it.

Once I get my 87 Formula rims on and decals, she will be all done

Re: Formula decal placement

THere is no "Exact" placement...

The rear bumper is on the RH side just above the black bumper before the roll.

The front bumper is on the LH side of the car just below the pocket. This is a pic from an unpainted original bumper.

for a decent side pic? I am just trying to get it as close to factory. Gonna print pics and give to the person applying.

Re: Formula decal placement

I have lots of those...

I personally prefer the locaton on the Yellow car, its a little lower but I think it has a more pleasing appearance for location. The Red Convertible is the original decal in the orginal location as it has never been repainted.

Its the law of thirds, the decal should be about 1/3 the way up from the bottom of the door, or from the highlight line, whatever you chose. the same goes for the sail panel, the bird is about 1/3 from the bottom, and 1/3 from the window back. The location is not super critical, but it should not be in the center of the panel. I would take your decal and place it on the car with masking tape (keep the backing on. Then move it around until you get the position that its most pleasing. I think more than anything it should Look correct rather than be 100% correct. THe placement is everything and nothing at the same time.

Make it look good, and make it look like thats where it belongs, don't get hung up on the exact measurement as everyone here with an all original car would probably give you a different measurement.

Re: Formula decal placement

If you had the GM decals the backing paper is cut so it matches the body lines for the door, Hood and front nose bird.

Wow, I have never EVER seen a Convertable Formula and I'm shocked even more that its a 350. Any more details on that car or know how many were made.

There were a total of 324 verts made in 1989.
42 WERE Formula 350 convertibles, there are 15 VINS which are unknown as of right now and probably never will find out.

Re: Formula decal placement

I measured the yellow car as I am repainting it, the measurement from the lower highlight line is 3.25" up to the bottom of the decal IIRC. I have it written down on the stairs in my barn.
