My First Third Gen....Good Deal???
I finally purchased my first Third Gen after wanting one now for several years. I think I got a pretty good deal but wanted to see what you guys thought. It is an 89 Formula, 5.0TPI 5-Speed, Flame Red Metallic, Tan interior, completly stock and original, came with all paperwork including original window sticker, has all the options.....WS6, dual cats, etc. It's a hardtop. 110,000 miles. Interior is mint and still smells new. No rust, no dents, underneath is as clean and rust free as the body. Never saw winter and garaged all its life. I got it for $1200 because it needed a fuel pump. A few nights in the garage and I had the fuel pump replaced. I was quite surprised at the power the car has. Feels more like a 350 than a 305 to me. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and I am sure you all will be hearing more from me.

Re: My First Third Gen....Good Deal???
For a non-running car $1200 is horrible, for the car as you describe thats a real deal, you could probaby turn it around in MI for at least $4000...
If it is that nice, bring it to the Trans Am nationals in Dayton, OH This August...

I'll post some pics of it when I get it out of winter storage in the spring. I am new to this, so I am not aware of all the meets in the area, but I may have to come to Dayton. It is only about a 4 hour trip for me.

Good to see there are others in the area. I am also in the Mahoning Valley. I actually didn't find it in Ohio. I drove to CT to pick it up.

Congratulations, Sounds like an amazing deal.
I know exactly how you feel,I just got my first Third Gen last saturday.
I found a 87 Sport Coupe with a 305 for $1100. Got some minor things to fix, but its almost all stock. Seems like it was taken care of, but it has aged. Interior needs a headliner and a few plastic parts, seats re-covered and new dashpad, rear hatch pull down is broken, and the engine either has a bad lifter or an exhaust leak on the passenger side of the engine because its got a ticking noise. But it runs strong, doesnt leak oil or trans fluid and with a little work will be a nice car. I have been wanting something worth working on for awhile and now i got my new toy. I hope we both have the best of luck with our new F-Bodies!

Re: My First Third Gen....Good Deal???
One other thing that I have found but have no idea of the meaning behind it is that when you pop the hood, right in front of the radiator there is a signature and the date 6/10/89 in what looks to be a black sharpie marker. It is a bit faded, but still very legible. Anyone have any thoughts on the origin of this?
Thanks

What does the sig look like? Add a picture when you post some pictures of the car itself. Sounds like a good deal. I really like the 305 TPI 5 Speed combo's. Should stick around with an auto 350 TPI any day as long as you know how to use the 5 Speed.

Don't remember exactly as the car is still in storage, but I beleive it just said Jose with a fancy design under it and then the date. As soon as I get it out of storage, I'll snap some pics.
