Re: What would you want in a 3rd Gen Book?

Originally I was going to do Firebirds only, but really so much information crsses the lines that I thought doing both in one book would make sence...

Another thought I had was to have the front half of the book Camaros, the back half of the Book Firebirds, and have the Firebird section Up Side down. When you flip the book over then the Firebirds would be in the front, and the Camaros in the back..

Re: What would you want in a 3rd Gen Book?

I am in the middle of putting together a complete book on third generation Camaro's. I am going to model it after John Hooper's books on first and second generation Camaro's. I have owned at least one of every rare third generation Camaro ever made to include the following: 1LE Camaro,L69 IROC-Z,B4C, 1987 IROC-Z Conv,etc... I have owned over thirty third gen Camaro's and still counting. I will include decoding, options and after market performance parts. Please email me with what you want in addition to what you have already posted.. I hope everybody will be impressed with my work. My goal is to become the Jerry MacNeish "authority on first and second generation Camaro's." of the third generation Camaro. Thank you everybody!!! Jeff

It's all well and good if you want to write a thirdgen camaro book... but you can start by not hijacking OKFOZ's thread to ask for input for your project. It doesn't make a good impression.

Re: What would you want in a 3rd Gen Book?

I'd like to see a more descriptive RPO list besides the basic title, date, quantity, price, etc (of coarse include those too).

Examples . . .
FE2 - SUSPENSION SYSTEM, RIDE & HANDLING
What exactly were all of them and how did they differ the base F-body? What models?
B18 - ORNAMENTATION, INTERIOR (DELUXE)
Was this an option or standard. If it's an option, what were the differences. What models?
NA5 - EMISSION SYSTEM, FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS
What were they? Was it any different than a typical set-up?
R7F - GMC "TAP IN", NATURAL GAS VEHICLE (BI-FUEL)
What is this? How is this set-up? Where did this RPO come-in (part of a package, option, standard, what?) I have this one on my ride.
Z49 - MANDATORY CANADIAN BASE EQUIPMENT MODIFICATIONS (CANADIAN)
What were the modifications? Anything besides a speedo in KM's?

Basically what I'm saying is a little more of a story behind each one.

Maybe a Did you know? section of trivia facts. Like that 3rd gen Camaros were original to be designed as front wheel drives!!! Etc.

Re: What would you want in a 3rd Gen Book?

and the many seats that were used in our cars, PMD, the custom L/S's i believe, GTA seats, included in the yearly break down of course, but indepth of what changed over the years specifically when it came to interior features would be nice. Definally do break downs of RPOs in a more descriptive model.

and RPO/Package prices if correct information (relatively) is available

MOTION IROC-Z

I have talked with Joel Rosen and his original marketing person Martin said they did in fact build Motion IROC-Z's. The one that Joel drove was a supercharged vehicle. Joel said that his markiting person may have pictures but it would be $500.00 to find them and if he could not find them he would return $250.00 dollars. Martin said it is a very labor intensive job finding the pictures. IROCZJEFF

Jon, for the Camaros, also add the Motion IROCs. It doesn't need much attention, but Joel Rosen can still be contacted for details regarding the quantity of the cars and possibly even production numbers.

Re: What would you want in a 3rd Gen Book?

I am not trying to take anything away from anyone! I am doing this for the hobby! I thought this would be the correct place to post. I am sorry if I upset anyone! I am happy that everyone is taking third generation Camaro's and firebirds serious now. As a collector of Camaro's from the 60's to the last SS Camaro's being made I think we all deserve a pat on the back for keeping the passion for the Third Generation Camaro and Firebird alive. I have done more research than I care to talk about regarding third gen Camaro's. Like I posted earlier I have already talked to Joel regarding the MOTION IROC's and I intend on sharring that info in my book along with picures of the MOTION IROC-Z that Joel drove himself providing Martin can find the pictures. "Martin seem's to recall the car being a red supercharged 85 IROC-Z. AGAIN, I AM SORRY FOR BUTTING IN BUT I AM VERY HAPPY FOR SO MUCH INTEREST AND I ASK FOR YOUR SUPPORT. IROCZJEFF

Clean organized pages with no random pictures everywhere...but like outlined black drawing's of side views and top views of the different years to show the differences
