GM Remote Entry

I have to word this well becaues I know that Remote entry was NA on our cars, 4th gens were the first to get them...

My question is I JUST found a keyless entry system for our cars which was offered by GM... I was wondering if anyone has one that has the GM transmitters. I always wanted to put Keyless on my cars and I saw this and thought COOL! I gould get a GM one I bet its a plug & Play... So I searched for the part nubmers with no avail...

Package Part Numbers
82-91 - F ELEC DR LK (AU3) ...... 9995588 KEYLESS ENTRY PKG, Door LKG (VSS-200)
92 F.........................................12342271 KEYLESS ENTRY PKG, Door LKG (VSS-200)
92 F.........................................12342271 KEYLESS ENTRY PKG, Door LKG (CONSISTS OF 12342271, 999401 & 12343311)(VSS-201)

I was wondering if anyone knew of these?

Whoa! Interested in this, never heard of anything like it for 3rd Gens. Would this have been a dealer installed option or what are we talking about here?

Re: GM Remote Entry

John,
I have the factory GM keyless system on my IROC. It was installed by the dealer when the origional owner purchased the car. I have two origional transmitters.

Re: GM Remote Entry

Not a origional one. I tried. Called several dealers and they laughed. Gave me the names of a couple of companies that supposedly deal in this kind of stuff and they both told me it was way to old and long ago. They suggested E-BAY. I have never seen another system like mine. God help me if were to ever lose those transmitters...... You can get aftermarket systems for our cars.

Re: GM Remote Entry

I'd just get aftermarket. They are easy to install and you can get remote start, etc. Cheap too.

I was hoping for something to Plug & Play where I did not need to hack into my wire harness. I got one but never instaleld it.

Re: GM Remote Entry

I know of a guy who put the keyless entry from a 4th gen car into a 3rd gen, I'll see if I can get some more info on this. I don't think he had to hack any of the wiring to get it to work, but could be mistaken.

Re: GM Remote Entry

Hi Guys,

Funnily I was thinking of making an aftermarket version because it's not as hard as you think what with the availability of RF parts thesedays. As for wiring all you need is an always live from the battery and then two wires tapped into the lock/unlock wires :-)

Thanks,

Ian

Re: GM Remote Entry

I never knew that existed from GM. But you do know that if you get an alarm installed it is the same thing with the doors unlocking and locking remotely. The door locks also should lock automatically once the car is started. My first use to do that, but my current does not, guess the relay for the door locks is broke. Andrew

Re: GM Remote Entry

I am truely shocked that they do not have a plug in version from GM...

Any word on the guy that converted a 4th gen system to use on his third gen?

Re: GM Remote Entry

I had to rent a car because some scum bucket side swapped my wife's car and the rental car has a single key which has 4 bottoms on it to lock, unlock door, trunk release and panic, all on 1 key ( Camry ). This is so cool. I need to find a way to get a custom key done like this for my firebird. Andrew

Re: GM Remote Entry

VKE 1000 is what I think your searching for, its a dealer installed remote keyless entry that was avaliable in the late 80's and early 90's. I've seen several of them for sale here in the classifieds and on ebay over the years, but I've never been able to secure a purchase.

Re: GM Remote Entry

Interesting. Mine dosen't look that. The GM keyfobs are square witha plastic overlay that has the numbers 1 & 2. 1-Locking or unlocking the doors. 2-unlocking the hatch. I have a toggle switch located under the dash. When i activate the system i close the doors and 45 seconds later the system arms. I have a red LED that blinks. Intersting enough the dash has a molded in hole right where the LED is inserted.
