California car?

as some of you might know. I've been trying to figure out the past of this 88 iroc-z It's been tough but i just keep finding snipits. I'm thinking of getting a job at the local detective agency soon haha. So i found a ...some of a build sheet under the passenger seat. And heres what it looks like.

I also saw this written at the bottom

Does this mean it's a cali car and if so does that mean that there will be a build sheet on top of the gas tank? I've herd thats where they put it on cali cars. Will it be ruined from all the elements?

Thanks =)

Re: California car?

Your California car you bulit at the Van Nuys Ca plant which in 1988 was the only assembly plant for 3rd gen cars. Not to impressed with your detective skills so far not knowing these common facts.

Re: California car?

If the 11th digit is an L then it was a Van Nuys car since its an 88 it better be an L. Hope this helps

Re: California car?

Thats actually a partial Build sheet.

You have Black interior...

The car was MADE in California (as we have already discovered) The text that shows CAlifornia Autoworkers... is more of a psychological thing for the factory line worker... by putting this on the sheet every time they read it their brain pucks up on it subliminally and in effect it causes them to work harder... ITs like the movie theaters that would flash popcorn in the middle of a movie, although it was 1/30'th of a second long peoples brains would make them think of Popcorn, it became illegal and yes it is bazar, and no one noticed it was there but it really worked and Popcorn sales increased. This is probably the same thing to a lesser degree...

Re: California car?

Ok so they are all Cali cars. I didn't know the suspects Family but i did find out about the dude himself. At least I'm not wrong. So madmax said there was no specified places for build sheets. Has anyone found one on top of their gas tank? If I were to look I'd probably just cut a hole in the floor for a fuel pump swapping convenience since I've herd it's a total PITA to drop it. Good plan?

Re: California car?

As some here don't know it is possible for a car to have more than 1 build sheet. I'm discussing the possibilities of that 2nd build sheet being on top of the gas tank. Thanks for any QUALITY responses.

Re: California car?

the one you found just states a few suspension parts, and interior there should be a full one somehwere in your, and most likely probaly not, a few have found them on top of their gas tanks, some under hatch area carpet, and even a few taped to inside their front bumper

No, cutting a hole in the structural support for your car is a BAD idea. You can and read all about the dead horse beating that happens when someone mentions it.

Chill out, I should have said something earlier, but the comments are not necessary. If I got slapped every time I asked a question when I started my research 10 years ago I would have given up. I imagine you have asked your share of questions that could have been construed by others as being common knowledge... granted most of us know that after 1987 all cars were made in California, but he is newer to the boards... Consider it a warning.
