Indy 500 ID
anybody know a way to identify an Indy 500 car the kid I bought my 82 Z gave me some paperwork from a dealership stating it's an Indy but without the RPO tag I'm at a loss

The 82 Pace Car did not have an RPO tag in the glove box. That started in 1984. On the radiator support, there is a plate that should read 16U 16L and Z50. There is also a code for the interior, but I'm drawing a blank on its code (AR9 or AQ9 ??)

Interior would also be a dead giveaway. Blue interior with blue/silver seats and door panels. Z28 logo embroidered on the headrests. Indy 500 badge on the dash. I have 2 of em, I should know.. lol.

The radiator support should have the RPO code 26G for the festival car interior. http://www.camaropacecars.com/1982/82faqs.htm#j65

Yeah it doesnt have any of that it's just a Z with a weird dash badge

You have me confused. You posted this thread wondering if your 82 Z was possibly a pace car. Now you say you have a weird dash badge and you've posted it under Odd ball 83. What is it? an 82 or an 83? In the thread "Odd Ball 83" you posted that you have an 83.

Right I returned the 83 to it's previous owner due to the fact he was freakin me out by not taking the money or producing a title so I bought this clean primer black 82 Z for about a grand less and I have been very happy with it, the kid I got the 82 from said it was an indy (which it's not) but nobody can figure out the dash badge I dunno
