Problem reading casting numbers

Car: '89 GTA/'86 TA/98 TA
Engine: 350/350/LS1
Transmission: R4/T5/4L60E
Axle/Gears: 3.23/2.77/3.73
Problem reading casting numbers

I have found the spot where the numbers are. I have used a ton of degreaser...nothing. It looks a though the number are worn down (unreadable) What can I do to read them. I dont have the engine out so i cant read the numbers from the bellhousing

Please help

you can try a piece of paper and color it with a pencil and the numbers should appear

thats about the only way i could think of going about it if theres any trace of the numbers left they should show up
