Build Sheet wanted!
Please help!
Can somebody here decode my VIN and post the build sheet of my bird?
My VIN is:
1G2FS23T8NL221359 <- I know, it's the full VIN, but this car runs in Germany...
I need to know the color code, but the sticker is gone...
Thanks in advance!

Re: Build Sheet wanted!
well for one--we cannot post the build sheet. It was issued to your Firebird only and is not publicly available.
You can order a copy of the factory invoice though....for $50.
(tell you how much the car cost, where it was sold, all the options ect)
Just tell us what colour it is and the code can be found easily.

But you will not get a printout of the true "build sheet" itself. If you are looking to get a copy of the RPO sticker, which lists the options on your vehicle, then doing the above will get you the contents of the RPO sticker. A true "build sheet" lists the GM dealership that is being charged for the vehicle, as well as the dealership the vehicle was shipped to, all RPO codes and their descriptions, and a lot of other various codes. Those aren't easily replicated.

The color of my Bird is a red metallic (in my avatar you see a picture of my car - it's a '92 model with the frontnose of a '90).
I found the '91/'92 colorcodes of GM and if i take a look of this, i think it's possible that the color is
WA8979/72 GM 7204* GM 3865* MEDIUM GARNET RED M B/C
but i'm not shure, because somewhere i found also the colorname "diamond red metallic".

Re: Build Sheet wanted!
As to the interior, there was Medium Dark Grey - RPO code 92D for Cloth or 922 for Leather and there was Black - RPO code 19D for Cloth or 192 for Leather.

Blue was not an available interior color on the GTA throughout it's course (1987-1992). Are you sure you have a GTA? You either have the wrong interior (previous owner swap), or you do not have a true GTA. It could be a base Firebird or a Trans AM. Or, I suppose, you might think the black interior looks to be blue?
Re: Build Sheet wanted!
If your VIN starts out:
1 = USA
G = GM
2 = Pontiac
F = F-body Line
W = Trans Am or GTA
You have a Trans AM or GTA if you have a W for the 5th digit. If the W is an S instead, you either have a Firebird (base model) or Formula.
If you don't have the RPO sticker on the inside wall of the center console, to know if it's a true GTA, you would likely need to order a history of the vehicle through a service (such as PHS) to see if Y84 (GTA RPO code) is present.

Re: Build Sheet wanted!
Well, you either have a Trans AM or GTA if that is your VIN. My order sheet shows "blue" was not an interior color option on either Trans AM or GTA in 1988. So you either have different (swapped) interior from a previous owner, or as mentioned, you might be mistaking it as blue.

Re: Build Sheet wanted!
My understanding is that PHS no longer can do 1987 and newer vehicles, so, you would have to contact General Motors Media Archives by email address of vehicleinvoice@gmmediaarchive.com or by phone: 734-421-0273, ext. 107. Thanks goes to Frankie for that information. The cost is, or was, $50 per invoice. This includes only an invoice, but will help give you some information about the vehicle's options.
I'd think by having a 1988 GTA Convertible, it might be worth the $50.00 to get some documentation as those weren't exactly very common, regardless if GM officially did the convertible back then or not (they did not). Understand that this invoice will really not be complete like a build sheet (to my understanding), but at this stage, you don't have a lot of options for documentations unless you actually find a true build sheet stuffed somewhere in the car (like under the carpet, on top of the gas tank, behind the instrument panel, etc.). Not all cars will even have the build sheet as they were often discarded.
