Look at probaly the lowest mile Iroc-z On the PLANET

They say it has 124 original miles.. but for 45k they can KEEP it.
(if this isnt in the right spot move it accordingly.)

climate control garage yea right i see tons of rust, for 45k you can buy a fully restored 1st gen camaro, besides how the hell does a car only have 126 miles insane every time i see such low mileage
Re: Look at probaly the lowest mile Iroc-z On the PLANET
He should have mentioned something about the tires in his post, unless I missed it.
They MUST have been changed, or they wouldn't look like that...

I was watching barret jackson car auction last year and they sold an 84 z28 with only 6 miles on it. Sold for like 24,000 or 26,000 dollars. It was a dealer showroom car that the dealership never sold. I know its not an iroc but its not the lowest mileage third gen on the planet.

When I heard someone mention rust on such a low mileage car, I thought "its gotta be from florida" and sure enough it is. I wouldn't touch it for that reason alone.

What you guys are missing is that the 1990 IROC-Z convertible is a rare car in that less than 1300 were produced. It's the second lowest production 3rd gen Camaro convertible behind the 87. It's also the lowest production year IROC-Z. I would love to own a 90 IROC-Z vert.
That car is not from Florida as we don't have windshield inspection stickers. That almost looks like a Virginia car. I just looked up Jim Mckay Chevrolet and it's from Fairfax VA.
The tires were swapped out with GoodYear Eagle RSA. These weren't available in 90 and I wouldn't want to drive the car with original tires. In my opinion, battery and tires is a given for replacement. The under carriage was under coated. That's why it looks like that. Some of the rust you guys see are because of the humidity in the air. I agree that there shouldn't be rust on the shock tower bolts and such, but it's easily cleaned up. I see nothing wrong with this car as far as it's validity.

I agree with Scott.
The car is obviously undercoated ( a minus in my book but its done ) thus the black paint... If it was not undercoated it would have been Primer Gray for the most part with some color overspray...
Worth $44K??? Its hard to say, but it would be a good piece for a Museum...

IN 2002 it was sold I guess from the 1st or second owner and in 2004 sold once again, and then this dealership got a hold of it so.but also theres no documentation on miles or anything as far as that goes on the carfax. Re: Look at probaly the lowest mile Iroc-z On the PLANET
I hope this car sells for the asking price. It will help to increase the value of the rest of our cars. And to think that LeonardS was trying to sell his "last 3rd gen produced" for $50k a few years back.

Re: Look at probaly the lowest mile Iroc-z On the PLANET
Definitely looks nice. That engine compartment just looks too clean to have had any mileage put on it. But I do wonder why the A/C cylinder looks discoloured? Like it's pitted or something. Same with the rust on the AIR tube connection.
Compare mine, and the Ebay car looks worse when comparing AIR and A/C cylinder.

Underbody spray could have been a dealer thing when new. My GTA got the Diamond coat treatment underneath when it was new (I have the receipt)
The plenum looks a bit tarnished. But I think that has more to do with the hood insulation somehow overheating it. On low mileage Corvettes, the plenums still look like new. But they don't have insulation pressing against them either.

(Vette has 8,000 miles. It's a 1989. Never been driven in the rain)
I don't think I've ever seen a picture of the stock exhaust underneath an F-body before. Nobody ever takes pictures of them.
I'm guessing the 140 mph speedometer only came on G92 cars? It's definitely a nice car. But it seems so non IROC'ish to me. If that makes sense.
P.S. The Ebay car has a clean coolant overflow, but the writing on the cap seems to have worn off.

Re: Look at probaly the lowest mile Iroc-z On the PLANET
he used a gallon of tire shine on it
its all over the underside and exhaust and everything.
low milage cars. THAT HORRIBLE on cars to not get driven. I can only imagine the condition of o-rings and ect.. hopefully he at least starts it quite often. valves in the tranny are probably gonna stick, ac leak out ect LOL
Edited for language...Do not bypass language filters...This is a warning

Re: Look at probaly the lowest mile Iroc-z On the PLANET
Too bad about all the corrosion under the hood. It looks like the car was improperly stored. Why does the carpet appear so dirty? Not a single picture with the top up? And why all of the greasy Armor All or tire shine or whatever?
I would think a seller trying to get $45K for a 1990 Camaro would take the time to address these issues. For that price I would expect not only rarity (which this car definitely has) but also absolute perfection in the details. I would not want to pay a premium for a car like this, and then still have to work on it just to win a trophy at a car show.
I don't think it will bring the asking price, due to the cosmetic issues alone. But if it does, all of our cars just went up in value.

I think it looks more like the undercarriage was spray bombed more than undercoated. Then sprayed with some silicone of some type. The catback and trans pan being over sprayed looks like poop also.I'd still drive it though

I don't really see anything that makes me think it isn't a true 124 mile car. I good detailer could get that paint looking like brand new. I know I still wouldn't pay that much for it though.
That diamond plate looks like the rack to me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought all Irocs had a 145MPH cluster. This one has a 115 MPH cluster and my 91 Z28 convertible Brought new was 145MPH.

The ad doesnt say it spent its life in a climate controlled garage, but rather its in one... like in one now.
That aint the lowest mileage car. I dunno where people come up with nonsense like that aside of embellishment.

Re: Look at probaly the lowest mile Iroc-z On the PLANET
I keep looking at the underside of the IROC and I keep thinking something is amiss... One thing that just jumped out at me (correct me if I am wrong) is the Black undercoating / Paint... I know the car did not originally come that way UNLESS ASC decided to use up their supply of Black paint... I have never seen another Stock 3rd Gen with Black paint on it quite like that... ( I HAVE NEVER SEEN ) I did not say they do not exist.
What strikes me is the fact that the Heat shields look too flat, like they wre painted silver... The original heat shields were gavanized Sheet metal and tend to be a splotchy color and typically have a little more shine... It may be the angle of the picture, but it just does not look exactly right, ALSO when they would have undercoated the car I highly doubt they would have removed the panels to undercoat it... Could be, BUT...
Regardless it is a REALLY REALLY nice car...
John
Can anyone identify the rear axel as a 9 Bolt or a 10 Bolt... I cant tell from the angle.... Keep in mind that the B&W axels WERE painted, the Saginaw Axels were bare metal...

Re: Look at probaly the lowest mile Iroc-z On the PLANET
The owner or dealer had the car undercoated. That's the only explanation for that mess. I would have to agree that the undercoating company or the owner repainted things silver to give it a better look. They probably didn't like everything black. C'mon guys, it's undercoating and touch up. The car is a low mile original.
My car was undercoated also and looked horrible. If I posted my car on ebay, I wonder what comments would have been made about my undercarriage.
One thing I did question though was the dirty carpet. it looks stained, not just dirty.
