Re: How old are you?
hard to believe this thread is still going . ( but i love it ) i lay claim to being the oldest active gearhead on this forum . at 70 yrs. old i still do most of my own wrenching . i have a nephew & his son ( gearheads both ) that have a great , well stocked home shop . they help me from time to time with heavy stuff . tomorrow i am replacing my clutch , pressure plate , T/O bearing , & pilot bearing . i have a lite modified 305 in my car . i'm a cruiser not a racer . from time to time i like to make dark stripes on pavement . as my ex-wives have said , i may get older , but i refuse to grow up . this forum kicks a$$ , on my 4th 3rd gen right now . life is still good , cool cars , younger women , cold beer . LIFE IS STILL GOOD .

i am 17 i was previously driving my parents 94 lesabre and couldn't take it any longer. my brother bought his 84 t/a when he was 15 and hes had it for 13 years. i immediately looked toward a third gen, after much looking and a lifetime of saving i bought my 85 trans am 305 tpi for 1300 bucks in october of 09. it had the optional 3 piece louvers on the rear window not sure whether to keep them and re-mount them someday or to just sell them. i have done much work to get it running good again and i drive it every day and love it.

18, This 1992 firebird was bought by my grandmother new in the dealer lot in february 26, 1992 (still have the original window sticker). I rode in the car when i was 1 year old. this car that i have now has ALOT of sentimental value.
BTW: all you young kids like me PLEASE DONT RICE OUT OUR CARS

Re: How old are you?
42 here. Bought my 89 Firebird in 1990. I'm the 2nd and 4th owner of it. (Long, boring story). It's been sitting for a couple of years now, and I've gotten the bug to try to start working on it.
Had a 1984 Berlinetta V6 in the Navy in '87, and always regretted selling it. Curious as to what happened to it. Anyway, I love the 3rd gen body style and have been hanging on to "ole blue" in hopes of getting her roadworthy again.

Re: How old are you?
42.
My first Camaro was a Gun metal gray 1986 Z28 LG4 Auto that I bought new. It was stolen 2 years later at a beach parking lot.
My second and current third gen is a 1991 Z28 L98 that I bought used in 1993 with 12k on it. Drove the wheels off it for 80K miles until the rear end gave up the ghost and I parked it. It's been off the road for years and needs a major mechanical refreshing. When my two boys are old enough to help, I plan on restoring it as a father/sons project.

I'm 22, I got my '91 RS a few months ago. I love the T-Tops! I moved to Utah and the block froze and cracked, so I'm pilling the 305 and dropping in a 350. I'm way excited.

18... got my 91 Trans Am convertible back in August of 09 when I was still 17. Definitely planning on keeping it forever. If anything I'd trade it for a 350 TPI GTA.

Re: How old are you?
I am 19, bought the 89 formula 350 when i was 17 paid 2500 for it, and yes the 8th number in the vin is a 8 so i got lucky but not lucky enough one week after buying the car i had to take the heads off ( lets just say i learned with this car and will prolly never sell) replace head gaskets up. One week later the motor starting knocking BAD so i pulled motor bought a 350tpi for 575 from intake all the way to oil pan. Lucky? yea not so much the floor pans are bad and fender wells are rusted out didnt no that when i bought the car so still workin it out i guess, i dont know what i am doin but i am gonna take a shot at it.

Born in 1957 also... makes me 53 this coming April... now own 3 birds, including my present project, 88 GTA.
Have owned two firstgens, 68 and 69 Camaros... would kill to have the 69 back again.
UNCLE TOM, I salute you.

Re: How old are you?
I'm close to 32. My 90 Firebird was my 1st car. So, even though it will never be all that desireable (see...I do read the other posts
), I'm restoring it since it has sentimental value. I'm putting more money in than it will probably ever be worth (new GM weatherstripping...T-tops and all), all NOS/OEM parts to make it mint, but I couldn't part with it...especially for only the $2000-3000 tops I could probably get for it.
Not to sound old...but it's great to see all the younger people on this thread who have a 3rd gen and love it.

Re: How old are you?
I used to think that way too..but I personally get out of it more than I put into it. I know exactly what you mean, but don't judge what you can get out of it by what some everyday person off the street will give you for it. My personal enjoyment in my car and the memories of it pay for what I put into it many times over.
Trust me...I got my car when I was 19 and I loved it then. However, it means much more to me now that I am 31 and have had it for 12 years! Maybe we'll pass each other on US 1 driving through the keys...Well, since you've got the Formula you'll probably be passing me...

59 as of last November... Building an '82 with a bunch of mods + 3 other projects in my garage... Also work part time helping a young friend of mine get his Hot Rod and body shop going... Training a young guy how to fabricate, do sheet metal work, and some of the old customizing tricks that were taught to me.... Still do the chassis setup on a couple of drag cars, scale and setup work on a bunch of autocross and circle burners.... Been self-employed as a race car and hot rod builder since I got out of the Air Force in '72, and wouldn't go back and do anything different even if I could!!!!!!
