Piece of Third Gen history getting ready to go cheap

It's near me, and if my wife wouldn't divorce me, it would be in my garage. Looks like it's going to be a deal for someone!

Very clean 38k mile '83 Daytona TA, no reserve at $5,800 with 10 hrs left. I'm not even all that crazy about '82-'84 TAs, and even I would love that car!

What do you guys think it would be worth? I might be willing to risk a butt-whooping from the wife if it's an unbelievable steal lol.

In the future in that kind of shape who knows, only time will tell. I'd say it will be worth way more than it's going for at the moment.

Re: Piece of Third Gen history getting ready to go cheap

With 10hrs left I'll be willing to bet it will spike by the end. Probably 12-15K but I am not really up to date on the market for early cars. Nice car though!

Re: Piece of Third Gen history getting ready to go cheap

I'm going to have to let this one slide. I am going to need to buy a daily driver in the next couple of months, and that money would be nice to put down on my DD. If it goes for less than 7k though, I am going to be sick!!

Hey RPM WOT L 98 ... nice collection!! My three favorite thirdgen colors (and two favorite years)!

Re: Piece of Third Gen history getting ready to go cheap

I've bought and sold several cars on Ebay, and the auctions usually spike at the end, especially if the reserve has been met and the car appears to be going cheap. There are lots of people who wait to bid until the last minute, hoping to get a steal.

The last couple cars I sold, the bid was going up by hundreds of dollars every few seconds during the last minute of the auction. As a seller it was a very exciting 60 seconds!

It's tough to get a "steal" on Ebay, especially on a nice car. Best of luck to any of you who bid on this nice DT500.

That is indeed a beautiful car. I will in the market for an early bird couple of years from now. Always liked the 82-83 style.

$5,800!!!!!! WITH 40 MINUTES LEFT!!!I'm going to cry if thats all that guy or girl gets for it!

Seriously even a plain iroc with 38,000 miles on it would go for that ( I think)

Re: Piece of Third Gen history getting ready to go cheap

$8,300 is the sale price. Somebody got them a steal IMO. 10 years from now that car will easily be worth twice that. If it had stayed around 7k, I would have been VERY interested. I don't want to deal with the pains of a "misfire injection" car though lol.

Re: Piece of Third Gen history getting ready to go cheap

It looks like the same high bidder today is the same high bidder as on March 23, 2009 when the car was on e-bay.
I have seen this car on e-bay over and over the last two years.
I hope it does not come back for sale from Seller: muscle4u in the next year.

I doubt in 10 years the selling prices will ever double on the DT500 cars from where they are today.

Could be private bidders, too.

No, that's not private bidders. That's a ****-poor way to run an Ebay auction. Obviously the seller is bidding on the car himself or is having someone else do it to make sure it meets his "reserve price" in a "no-reserve auction".

Thanks for pointing that out, simo. Boo!!!!

I bet that's what it is. He puts the auction up with no reserve to raise interest just like it did in this case and then has his buddy outbid at the end if his desired price is not met. What a bunch of crap!

Re: Piece of Third Gen history getting ready to go cheap

You guys are always so negative. Is it possible that the $8100 bid in March was at the very last second and reserve still wasn't met? Now here it is April, the seller puts it up again and this time, a no reserve auction and the last high bidder really wanted the car so he stepped up his bid to $8300 to win the car. Now let's see if the car goes up again any time soon by the original seller.

See, that's why you're a moderator, Scott, and we're just a bunch of lowly idiots lol. I didn't even notice that the March auction had a reserve price. Nice eye!
